HI All,

I need some advice (preferably good)on what to do with my rapidly dulling top on a blue CVT 12 string. Can it be refinished without major aggravation / expense? I have a very competent luthier friend that could do the job I'm sure or should I send it to the factory for regrooving?

By the way, my previous OFC moniker was rx7dr, but I have changed my email, and couldn't remember my password (can't remember many lyrics either)... What a drag it is getting old

I got it....I'm a big Firesign fan...I believe it's from their first album, "Waiting For The Electrician".

I also have a blue CVT, It is showing a dulling from my right hand fingers off the treble side of the strings, beside where the soundhole would be on a normal guitar. This is where I brace my fingers when picking, and sometimes when strumming my finger tips graze this area.

The "dulling" does not appear serious, I guess I thought it could be buffed out, maybe with a little very fine rubbing compound. I assume it is a Urethane finish and I have to assume it could stand up to a little polishing. Or am I wrong?

That is the same area on mine... I pulled the strings off to change them this afternoon.

I figured I'd try something. Just waiting to see what the consensus might be on the recommended polish.

zen player, I'll take a break from the thread hijack to tell you that I would try an auto "no scratch" clearcoat polish on it. I have something called "Scratch Out", I think by Turtle Wax, that I got several years ago and it worked fine on scratches on the lacquer of my Larrivee. Bet it would work well on your Adamas, also.

as long as it wasn't on flanders rd, then my guitars are all safe still.

as for dulling, tony c had great suggestions for me a few weeks back, when I asked similar question about scratches. it shouldn't need a search, just scroll back to january and look for fugot and polish headline for post.
