My recent acquisition from Fleabay (a Tornado mongrel) arrived with several problems that the seller somehow managed to overlook in his description of a "great sounding instrument." Like electrics shorted out so that when plugged in you couldn't hear anything except the soothing tones of a 60 cycle hum. Like an action that was SO high the strings jumped off the bridge when played. Like a neck rake that was way off, and Oh, about those two stripped neck bolts and the piece of sawn-off 3/8" bolt wedged in the micro-tilt... Musta slipped by...
Fixed, fixed, fixed and fixed! It's alive! My work was checked by a luthier and I got a passing grade. I know I passed because I had to wrestle the guitar out of his hands to get it back. Tornado S/N 015 is alive!
I just need a neck cover plate to finish it...

Nice work! A neck cover plate would be easy to make, just get some engrasving stock and cut and bevel to shape. You could engrave the date you resurected the beast or whatever else is appropriate.

OOH! Good idea on the engraving stock. I was about to sacrifice my spare Strat pickguard, but was worried about tissue rejection problems...

YOu gotta love this guitar better than any other! It's always a real pleasure to fix something that is considered beyond repair by most!

I too am not a luthier but I dabble and it is a real pleasure to bring something back to musical life!

Enjoy dude. Randy
