Hello everyone, this is my frist post here :p

I tried a Pinnacle CU147 at a local store and really liked it. The solid top gives it a really "woody" tone, and I love the way it looks too.

I have put it on hold and am considering buying it. Any known issues with this model? And does Ovation offer better models in a similar price range?

In case it's important, I am looking for an electro-acoustic that's good for strumming and fingerpicking, and that has a good acoustic and unplugged tone.

Thanks! :)

The Pinnacles CU147/CU247 are Ovation's top Korean made models and the only ones with a solid top. The Celebrity/Celebrity Deluxes are laminate tops. They're nice guitars for the money.

The next models in terms of price are the US made Balladeer Special, Balladeer and Elite Special. If you could swing the extra bucks, they might be worth looking into. Otherwise, if you play it and you like it, go for it!

Thanks for the reply :)

I am debating with myself whether to buy the Pinnacle now, or to save up and buy a Larrivee later (either a 09 or 10 series). Too many guitars, not enogh money :o

The Pinnacles I tried have phosphor bronze strings, while all the Larrivee come with Elixir's... would it make a dramatic difference (and sound more like the Larrivees)if I string the Pinnacle with Elixir's?
