That is news. 0n my 301081 the straplock is on the topside (left). I have never had a guitar with the strap lock under the neck...I suppose it would raise the neck. That's a good idea. |

You were certainly an influence on my purchase of the 1537 two years ago. Elias was also an influence, though I haven't seen the good doctor round here lately.

well all you guys are the reason I just tracked down a 1537 elite in a small shop in Rhode Island.
Of course I live in colorado.
I put it on hold this morning and now have 30 days to go pick it up in person (no mail order at all). It is serial #301644. But I will truly believe it when I see it in my unworthy hands. It was $570. The shop sales guy says it is in really nice condition.
HEAD EAST OR BUST, I am a happy camper right now. Thanks to all. I will of course keep you updated on finally acquiring my precious. peace mike |

I checked out that one at RI (Daddy's Junky Music ??) before Tony forced one on me. Unfortunately, as you said, no mail order...only walk in store business.
The price was great but add the cost of the trip and then the unknown factor of what kind of condition it was truly in......plus Tony whispering in my ear.
Anyway....good luck!!! I hope it is just as good a deal as the Deacon you grabbed :D .
Damn Fugot....this could be your lucky month. You should go buy some lotto tickets!

Lucky for me, I grew up in Ct., and have a siter who still lives there. She will be getting a call this evening. Even with a little bribery for her and the shipping out to me, I think this is a good deal.
I hope Al takes my deposit money before I do something stupid. Like buy food...thanks, mike |

Remeber that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is opening in Phoenix this summer.
Maybe we can get the SoCal, New Mexico, and Texas crew over...maybe the Colorado crew can come down. |

Was gonna ask Dave if I could stop by next time but an SW OFC would be too cool (versus Phoenix hot!). I especially like the FALL instead of the SUMMER  (not mad...just the heat....heh heh)
Count me in....maybe I can learn to play the guitar by the time it rolls around!

Yeah, I responded to your e-mail, but your spam blocker asked me for a blood and urine sample and social security # in order to get through to you, and I chickened out. I'm squeamish around needles.

No worries. I dug you out just a little while ago. I have the spamblocker set on irradiate.
...Just curious would you have passed the Urine test?
Thanks for getting back to me...Let us know who the lucky new 1537 owner is when the the sale is completed. Bon Chance! |

| Jeff,
You got it, my blood was fine. Your spamblocker took my social and credit card info just fine, but sirens went off when I attached the blocker's catheter tube. Residuals from the 70's no doubt.
E-mail me again sometime. I was able to post a gallery just now under frank10101 if you want to take a look at the 1537. 100k is itsy bitsy but understandable with a forum's bandwidth considerations.

| Hey all,
Do I read this right? Do I have the only black 1537?
This wouldn't surprise me, as I hand picked this one up from the Connecticut factory back in the mid 80's. At the time, they told me it was a prototype.
What gives? Anyone out there with knowledge of another 1537 Elite black?
Let's see. I now want $150,000.00 for this axe! Just kidding. But it would be interesting to know if it's the only black 1537.
Anyone else know of a black 1537?

If there are more out there they are very rare.
StandingOvation may have hade or might have one, but I could be mistaken. He has a good selection of pictures on his web page...Check it out.
I did notice some differences in your guitar from mine...other than color. The bridge and binding specicfically.
It'd be pretty cool if you did have the only one |

| If any of you 1537 owners have time, will you check out 2 more pics I just uploaded showing the binding (gallery frank10101)? I'm curious if this binding is typical for the 1537. Also the fret markers, are they typical? I believe they're the first and next to last pics.
Thanks,

Those are good binding shots. On both my 1537's, the binding is Walnut sandwiching Maple sandwiching the middle mohogany strip. Yours, has that cool orange strip next to the top Though the difference might just be cosmetic/asthetic choice for the black or maybe still just the photo.
I failed to read about the repair dowels first time I looked, that accounts for the difference I mentioned in the bridge. |
