I hear Clapton is going to have a Cream reunion concert in London. Would be good if our Ovation marketing gurus could get a CL with the new bowl design --or an Adamas reissue for that matter -- into Clapton's hands for the concert. :D

If he plays an acoustic, it will be a Martin. He as a signature series, right?
That concert will make a heck of a DVD.

Let's get one of our folks on the east shore of the pond to attend, then give us a blow by blow, play list, etc. Clapton played at the Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State campus on his last way through. It was like seeing an old friend.

I saw Cream in 1968, in New Haven, CT, right after Wheels of Fire came out. They played a lot of that album, and a lot of earlier material. Ginger Baker probably went through about 30 pairs of drum sticks - I think about half of them whilst playing Toad - there were fragments and splinters raining down on the crowd in front. The overall performance was very good, but perhaps a bit brief - they played for an hour and fifteen minutes - maybe an hour and a half. I remember that my ticket cost something around $8.00.

Not too long after, Hendrix came to town. That ticket cost me $6.45 - and for better seats. Hendrix arrived about an hour late. His first words were a sincere apology, then a promise that he'd make it up to us. He did. He played for close to three hours. Did all the old material, but also a whole lot of the brand new material from Electric Ladyland.

Folks around the town said afterwards that they should have saved their money on the Cream concert and gone to Hendrix instead. I was happy to have gone to both. Neither came to our town again....

Don't pass up those opportunities, folks. If you've got a chance to hear someone, better do it.

For that matter, if you've got music inside you, better get it out and lay it down....

Best wishes to all -

Actually, I'm told that Pete Townsend's going to put the band back on the road again too, only, owing to the accumulated toll taken on their hearing over the years, they're changing the group's name...

from The Who to...

The Huh? (rim shot)

Thank you!

But seriously, folks...

According to the UK guitar press, at this point the Cream Reunion is still just a rumour. If it happens it looks likely to be several nights at the Albert Hall, around June/July

Having been fortunate enough to see the Cream perform on their Farewell Tour in 68, I wonder if a reunion, is a good idea. Clapton heard the "Band" and it made him quit. Baker and Bruce, couldn't stand each other. Ah, If they could perform a few songs from "Fresh Cream and Disrali Gears" it would be a strange brew indeed.
