Location: North Carolina | I am a beginner guitarist and this is my first post on this site. I have a Tacoma DR20 and a Seagull S6, and am taking lessons. I wanted to know what your thoughts are on the Asian-Rim Ovations. I'm not sure why, but the shop I take lessons at has a Ck057 that has just seemed to call my name the last couple of times I've seen it. It is very different from my other guitars, and I'm not sure why, but I seem to think it would be good to have it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks :cool: |

Here, you'll find the "Import" question to be a minor bone of contention . . .
The Korean models are good guitars . . for what you're paying. Eventually, you'll find yourself wanting to move up to a USA-made model. (Be forewarned. :-)
That being said, you "sound" like this particular guitar's got it's "hooks" in you. If you're lusting after it with a "gotta have it" attitude, grab it. But, for the same amount of money you MAY find an old USA model that may be a bit more substantial . . .

Location: North Carolina | Thanks for the info. I'm from the Charlotte area. Like I said before, I'm a beginner, but we have a fairly active music program where I go to church. I guess I could see myself joining in one day, and having an acoustic/electric would make things much easier. I lean towards the traditional/mountain/bluegrass/gospel side of things, but might slip into a little Eagles/Buffett/Croce/Skynyrd at any moment. (As a beginner, I play most of that stuff on the radio more than I do on the guitar right now!)Hey, Variety (within limits) is the spice of life. Again, thanks for the info and the Welcome. |

Don't worry about being a beginner. After 30 some odd years of playing, I still have some people come up to me and tell me that I'm doing real well for only playing a couple of weeks. |
