If alot of people turn their noses up to "O's" and don't see them the same as Martin, Taylors, and the such. Then why do so many guitar makers now offer knock off "O's" to sell. Not seen alot of Martin knock offs and others as much.

With that I found this beauty on E-Bay.........

Don't know if it's worth this but is real eye candy!

:D

You've got to be kidding. Almost every guitar manufacturer who started up in the last 30 years, besides Ovation, has been a Martin knockoff.

I agree with my esteemed colleague Mr. PI. Most companies who have entered this business have had their eyes set straight on Martin. So did Charlie and the gang. Only difference was that instead of just trying to do "it" better than Martin, Ovation chose to redefine "it". That's one of the reasons it's so damn hard to compare Ovation to Martin (and why I own them both) especially using a computer keyboard as your voice.

I agree you do see a lot of knock-off Ovations. Maybe it's easier to do than build a knock off Martin. It's just tupperware, some plywood for the top, punch a bunch of holes and put wood grained contact paper around them for epaulets, slap in a cheap pre-amp and it looks and smells like an Ovation.

The problem is that Ovation is such a unique look that any piece of knock-off tupperware shit sometimes gets thrown into the same conversation and the whole Ovation branding suffers. In other words, to a lot of people not familiar with Ovation, anything that "looks" like an ovation IS an ovation. Kaman themselves continue to screw the pooch with the whole Applause, Celebrity, USA fiasco, but that's been beaten to death here before. At least with wooden box guitars everyone knows that crap is crap and it ain't real Martin or Taylor otherwise it wood be in the "wood room" under lock and key. hey, wouldn't that be funny as hell if GC had a "lyracord room"?
