Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | Ovation guitars, are the only guitar manufacturer that I know of, that doesn't use the owner's name for it's product, ie. Leo Fender, for fenders, etc.
Anyone else besides Ovation?

Location: Scotland | Just a few that spring to mind: Microfrets, Alembic, Harmony, Fylde, Valley Arts, Music Man, Supro, Airline, Harptone, Avalon (formerly Lowden) Beltona, Guild. Then there's the Larson Brothers who never used their name on their guitars but they were called (amongst several other brand names) Euphenon, Maurer & Prairie State. I'm sure I can think of a few more. |

Location: Scotland | Nope, Mr Yamaha invented some kind of pump organ in the late 1800's and that was the beginning of what is now the Yamaha Corporation. Motocycles, musical instruments & all. |

Come to think of it Gibson would qualify. Orville owned the company for only a few years and was out by the very early 1900's |

Location: Vernon, CT | Shitbox is a very well known guitar company not named after anyone that makes all kinds of products including stereos, cars, etc. Just ask any longtime guitar play what brand of guitar he or she has played over their lifetime and I almost guarantee that at one time or another they played one of these! Play On!

Location: Vernon, CT | My very first guitar was a Silvertone Shitbox from Sears for $50 brand new. It had the classic f-hole configuration, was a dark sunburst in color and fell apart in about 8 years. But I did learn how to play and read music with it. I actually still own but it is in the original case stored away. Play On!

I just don't know much about guitar brand names, those two names just popped into my head. Kay and Harmony also popped into my head but I couldn't remember if they were:
1) Old Girlfriends
2) A country duo
3) Atrocious but cheap arched top guitars |

All he has to do is locate the ones I left at Ft Eustis, VA in 1956 when I was discharged. They should be in a pile of trash at the off post parking lot just opposite the base entrance. |
