Location: Sykesville, MD | Greetings everyone,
I figured if I was going to find anyone who knew anything about this guitar I have, it would be the people that are here on this dedicated web page.
Some background history on me and my guitar:
I am currently 29 years old and I live in Maryland and I strum a little on this guitar that was given to my sister when I was about maybe 8 years old if I can recall correctly. She had it for a number of years and after she stopped playing it she gave it to me one Christmas.
I have played this guitar in a couple of talent contests in the past and I usually get a few people to come over and look at my guitar, not because I am great on it, but because it looks very nice and modern, even though I know the thing is at least 15 years old. It is a very pretty shade of dark metallic blue on the base, has black volume and tone knob and has a very light colored wooden neck and part where the tuning keys are. The bridge is silver and so is the tremelo bar. People ask if they can play it a little and I let them and they comment on how great it sounds even when it isn't amped up.
The only thing I know about it is an approximate age of about 15 years (it was not bought new when I was 8), on the front of the neck where the tuning keys are it reads:
Ovation Ultra GS
And on the back of the same area is a tag with what I am guessing is the serial number which is:
012292 in black ink.
I would really like to get some things fixed on the guitar because it really is so pretty and it sounds so nice. The pickups seems like they might be going bad. I have been to the Ovation Archive and I can't seem to find a listing anywhere for that guitar.
Can anyone here help me identify the year it was built and just what exactly I have here? I hope my descriptions help some, as you probably already have guessed I don't know much about guitars. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hang on and someone will show up with some info on yourguitar, I own and play a Viper and am a great fan of old Ovation solid bodies. As you have guessed, Miles is the absolute expert in the whole world on these guitars.
