Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | I had one. I traded it to Al for another guitar. It was a great looking guitar, I just didn't like the way it felt when I played it. I have played a bunch of Elites, and I liked them all, but the book Elite just wasn't for me. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | I said a copy. It's recent and has a bearclaw top, flush eppis and baloney dots in the f/b. I should have had snowflakes but I didn't think of that in time. It has a gloss neck which I think is better that the original book version. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | You might want to search on Book guitar or something like that. They were a limited series of Ovation all decked out and LTD was part of the model number. The "book" name came because there is one on the cover of the "History of Ovation Guitars" book. |

Found Bailey fast asleep at our computer with a strange message on the screen, Bailey has a habit of staying up late and posting on strange web sites with names like Garageband and Ovation Fan Club. The screen seemed to have been from the North Pole from some weirdo called Santa and his Elves, and Bailey was writing a list of his Christmas presents:

Location: SoCal | I've never been a fan of the book guitar. It always struck me as a copy of the 87 Collectors that was not done quite as well.
Now having said that, it is a beautiful guitar and has a great sound. I'd just buy a 87 Collectors first. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Like Moody, I have mixed feelings about the '87 vs. Book also. The '87 has the advantages of being a deep bowl and having glossed headstock. The Book has the advantages of better pre-amp and cleaner looking fretboard. Toss up, both nice guitars visually but middle of the road sonically. Dave |

Location: Seattle Tacoma Washington | Six String, Viper! Love them both! I'd have to say the 30 is the sweetest guitar I own! In the collection are a number of ovations, and a Gib J200. Just something about it. Acoustically or plugged in, just sweet!! I'd love to get my hands on a book mando if anyone would give one up, let me know!!

| '87 is much better than the '30. major "problems" with the '30 - the neck and the "ugly" inlays on the headstock.
save your $ for the new adamas reissues or '05 models. they are better than most used ones. |

I have been playing my 30 Elite 6 string for years now. I have had no problems with it at all. The neck has been incredible. Nice low action, Love the inlay around the headstock, still the prettiest guitar in the corral. I'll play the 30 all day long before I pick up my 1881-NB2, that I usually use for alternate tunings, because I'm playing the 30 straight up. Just a personal opinion, but mine. Have you really ever played one of these?

i've owned & played most ovation & still have '87 -5. if you ever get the chance to play or see the '87, u know what i mean. |
