Take a look at this auction. Especially look at the original receipt. The guy bought this Martin ukulele new in 1949 for $31.

Sells it on ebay in 2004 for $2225.

I know there are probably examples all over of stuff like this, but this one especially struck me because I was going to bid $400. for it and thought I actually stood a chance of getting it.

They do get up there. I've seen some of the old National ukes with the engraving (style 2 and 3) going as high as 3000+. You really got to be into it for that much money.

I have a 50s Martin Uke that my Mother in law gave me. I asked around a few years ago its value and was told to take it to HI to get the "real" value.

I've had people tell me $400.00 to $2000.00

It was the $40.00 run of the mill nothing special.
Looks just like the one from ebay.

With the kids and the monthly dream for somthing new to add to the music room... This Uke must have "something" to have dodged ebay land.

When and if I ever see parting with it I will list it on the board.
