Location: SoCal | My wife came back from the swap meet yesterday with 2 t shirts for me, the first was "Tools Of The Trade" and had pics on the front and back of a Les Paul and a Strat. The second was "Who Says Men Are Afraid of Commitment", and had guitar gear on the front and back. Again, Gibsons and Fenders.
Why can't Ovation make a t shirt with, say, an old Adamas and a new LX, on it, along with some snappy phrase ("For The Adventurous Side of Life"?) and sell them. Hell, 3 thousand would go to the club alone.
My wife is constantly wondering why Ovation doesn't put out a t shirt like that and a calander (with old and new guitars?).
Is there any interest and how do we get this idea to Rick Hall? |

| I bought a few real nice tee shirts from a guy on Ebay. THey were advertised as "American Tradition" or "Patriotic Guitar shirt" ?? These are black with a full back pattern that forms an American flag. The flag image is made from Guitar necks & headstocks
And guitar picks placed in the right corner to look like the stars. My Rickenbackers are on there as are of course Gibson, Fender etc. But the bottom neck is the Adamas 1. Nice shirts. Front a has a small logo that has a guitar and the words "American Tradition Guitars" on it. ONly thing I have ever seen with the Adamas 1 guitar on it. think the deal was 3 for $25
Here it is;

Of course, being 5'7" and 280lbs, I make do.
You can take your choice as to which description is correct. I'll answer to either. |

I couldn't stand it, that t-shirt looked good and the seller had one XL left and I snagged it.
Thanks, at least it has an Adamas I neck as you described. Now for an "Ovation-only" Tee! :D

| Glad someone liked those shirts other than me. I got three. They are well made and Nothing wrong with the other guitars for sure.
There are so many places now that do Embroidery Work or Screen printing using computers Have your own shirts made! Bring in your guitar and they can photograph it and print from it.
Enjoy

Location: Los Angeles, California | Hey... How about an "offical" Ovation Fan Club T-shirt?
I can do it. We have the equipment here where I work and do our own Tees. I'd be glad to help make it happen. Have to get about 100 to get a really good deal but that doesn't sound too hard.
Can even put a club logo on the front (small) and big Ovation guitar on the back.
Anyone interested?

Location: SoCal | Don't worry Andy. Actually, when I was starting this thread, I was thinking of something more than the OFC shirt (which I have and love -- any more XXL's Miles?). What I was thinking about was possibly a shirt with a picture of a slothead Adamas and an LX on it -- the old and the new. With some good logo (hey, this board is great at smartass phrases). I'm guessing that we could easily sell 1000 of these things. Hell, I'd buy 3-5 for myself and friends. |

Something to keep in mind.

I like the idea of a Tee with two of the more beautiful Ovation guitars, the Adamas I 12-string "Big Blue" and the LX as you suggest would be my first choice. I'll take 10 as in Ten.

Could you supply a good digital pic of "Big Blue" and will someone volunteer to do the same for the LX? We can do this ! :)

I have all the resourses to get some cool shirts made. You guys supply the art you want and I'll have it digitally stripped and then it can either be transfered or silk screened. Just need to get an agreement between everyone as to which of the great "O"s to put on them.
Why are the Club shirts out of stock? I know... so hot you can't keep up with the demand!

Sorry, I spaced your question.
I'm in Norwalk. Where the 91 crosses the 605.

You guys are quite the salesmen.
Just jumped on Ebay and snagged one of the T-shirts also. Should get it by weeks end. |

I know Norwalk well. I go to the courthouse and L.A. Recorder's Office there all the time.
These don't have to be pics of our guitars. They can be professional ones that Ovation has done. I just want a t shirt with my favorite guitars on them. If we couldn't sell 500 of them right here on the board for $10-$12 apiece, I'd be really surprised. We're probably going to have to get Ovation's permission to use the pictures of the guitars. |

Help!! Anyone???
I know the courthouse area well. I work about 10 minutes away in Santa Fe Springs. How about lunch some time? Ever been to Goodfellas down the street on Imperal? Best "fast food" around.

Also, I doubt 500 shirts like that would sell when just 144 fan club shirts didn't sell in over a year.
I will be getting more shirts, but not until early in 2005. |

Location: Munich | perhaps you should get in touch with the marketing apartment. we're the fanclub and if we wear their logo we really do some advertisment for them to sell new instruments (well, perhaps not me in fact I need solidbodies but one time I'll also buy an accoustic for myself ;) )
on the other side the shirts from kamanwear.com aren't that nice. perhaps they should design new shirts that don't look that oldfashioned.
happy advent

The shirts miles had made for the fan club were very good quality and sharp.
I told him to get t shirts made and he keeps rubbing it in that they took long to sell.
but what the hell do I know? I am just an idiot that sells gear for a living. |

I'm just tired of wearing shirts with Fenders and Gibsons on them. If you will recall from my first post on this thread, I asked the question of how do we get this question to Rick Hall.
Coming up is the 30th Anniversary of the slothead, possibly the best acoustic guitar Ovation ever made. This year they came out with the LX, another great acoustic guitar.
I would prefer to have a t shirt with Ovations like these on it, rather than Fenders and Gibsons. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | i wore an ovation t shirt and my ovation hat to last night's gig (the color is great), and am sipping home roasted coffee from my ovation jumbo mug (musician's therapy size). i'm glad i got 2 of each before the supply ran out. since they were a small run i wont eat spaghetti wearing the t shirt). i'm in love--- what can i say.
you can count me in for a dozen if they go for $10 ea by the dozen. they would make great gifts. i wish i had them now. it would save me allot of christmas shopping. some FOR me and some FROM me.
with computer generated iron on art, almost anyone who has a little time and the basic gear can make a t shirt. ( printer and iron on transfer paper, image, and a computer if the printer isn't a stand alone scanner/copier/printer) that probably doesn't get into copyright issues since it isn't commercial. i have a friend in the screen print/engraving business (probably everyone does) in albuquerque. might have a few ideas--- |

The OFC coffee mug makes a GREAT shaving mug!!
A round cake of shaving soap fits into it perfectly, and it has a small enough "footprint" to fit comfortably into the medicine cabinet . . . |

Location: Los Angeles, California | If, just if you had your choice to have a shirt with both guitars on it, what would it look like? The Adamas next to a LX? Both on the front? Back? One on each side? Straight up, crossed necks, right side up or up side down?
What do you envision? I think I'm going to make one for myself with my Balladeer. Maybe with the front on the front and the shiny back on the back (showing off the 5-ply & tuners). Waddaya think?
I just thought! I know some "people" in LA who do promo stuff and have contacts everywhere. One of them is doing a numbered limited edition Fender lunch box for only the distributors. I think I'll give them a call.

Location: SoCal | Ok, here's what I would do (probably violating all kinds of copyright laws). I'd have it be a colored shirt, good quality material. Large, and on the back, I'd have a picture of a slothead Adamas (Cliff's? one from the internet?) and a picture of an LX (personal preference would be a natural faced Elite -- picture of Woodrow's or off the internet). Somehow, I'd have them either leaning up against each other, or next to each other at an angle, with their necks crossed.
Under the guitars, I'd have some sort of logo, like "The past & the present... always leading to the future" And under that, it should say Ovation.
On the front over the left breast, it would have a small version of what's on the back.
Thoughts? |

Al- you can come up with a shot of the LX, right? Or anyone else who has what it takes. I'm not to cool with pulling pics right off the "O" site. Besides, I think a good camera will have better resolution.
Remember, these are just to play with and I think it would be nice to have something to show Ovation when we ask for their permission to do this.
Remember, also, we are just talking about something for us "fans" and it is free advertising. Like a good deed, Right? :D
Boy do I need a cold one after this day! And it's still early here on the coast!
