Location: chicago | hey for al of those who own the dimeola 2004,im just curious was your decision to purchase that ax based on al's awesome tone or did you have the oppotunity to play before you bought it i played one at georges music at disney world and the strings were older than dirt.so there was no way to judge as they are not a stock ax at gc or sam ash. | |

Location: SoCal | I bought it because 1st of all it is a custom legend, deep bowl, A braced, AAA spruce, and the OP-Pro. For 2004, they made some alterations to the bracing, etc. Plus, the black is beautiful with the gold signature on the headstock. As to DiMeola, he could probably play a $149 guitar (with a broken neck) and impress me.
It is the guitar, not the artist that impressed me. Alas, I couldn't resist and it is now in the hands of an artist to impress others on stage - Jim Nikas who plays with Serge.(Countryartist). | |

Location: south east Michigan | To be honest, I did not even know who Mr. DiMeola was. I had a 30th, EliteLX, and the AD-II to compare side by side. I played them, then had someone play them for me. I went with the AD-II based on sound. Lucky for me that it also looks fantastic. | |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I don't have an ADII, but I consider it the best-sounding Ovation currently available. I've played Brad's as well as another that is in a shop in the Metro Detroit area and they are in a class by themselves. I've played two 30th Anniversary CLs and they both were not as good as the ADIIs, IMHO.
If you want one, I'd go for it. You're right, they are very hard to find.
