I have a Custom Balladeer 1862, made in '92 and when plugged in loud reverb noises form, especially when the volume is higher or if there is much gain. Sometimes it causes the guitar itself to vibrate strongly and perpetuates the strings vibation as well to the point that it feels like my amp would blow if I don't mute the strings. It also seems to be cause more easily by certain strings and notes. Any idea as to what the problem would be would be appreciated. Also how much would something like whatever solution cost?

Sounds like it might be feedback...

You can try a Feedback Buster. They fit in your soundhole and have a dialable control for how much natural sound to emit.

You might also try aiming your monitor or amplified sound source differently so that it isn't shooting into your guitar as directly.

There are also inexpensive feedback control devices. Behringer makes one that right now qualifies for a rebate. (See a different thread on the board).

Behringer Shark. Works great, very inexpensive.

Also, try boosting the low EQ on the guitar & amp a little less.

"loud reverb noises form"

This leads me to believe something becides typical feedback. Like the pickup is acting more like a microphone (yeah I know it is one sorta) and picking up more than it should. I have always found Ovation guitar feedback to be more of a tone or howl. Loud reverb noises" sound like somthing else.
