Location: Wright City, MO | Very new Ovation guy here. Thirty years ago I owned an Ovation that had a modified classic neck and nylon strings. Not having been an Ovation aficianado, I do not remember the model number.
I am in the market, once again for a classical guitar, and having very fond memories of that old Ovation, I would like to get another one. Can someone assist me by listing the nylon string models that might be "readily" available or, perhaps, directing me to some listing that differentiates the nylon stringed guitars?

First, welcome to the board. You'll like it here. Second, what do you mean by a modified neck? Could it have been a slightly narrower neck and 14 frets to the body? That would have been a Country Artist.
If you think that was it, use the search feature on the board and search for information on that guitar. There's a ton of it. Then don't blame me when your wife gets mad at you for not carving the turkey! |

| Dan welcome aboard. I too am looking for an older 12-fret Ovation, I hope it will come up some time soon. it shouldn't be a problem to find a nylon string Ovation, i think i ve seen a few, i'll pass you the info. Enjoy your stay here.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been chasing around in here this evening and enjoying myself a whole bunch.
As to the neck. I'm sorry, it's been 30 years. I remember that the neck was narrower than a standard classical neck, and a bit wider than the standard 6 string neck of the time. I think it was only 12 frets accessible. No cutaway for higher fretting. It was a natural finish and I did love it.
As I told Giuseppe, I was living in rural England at the time. The neck made a clean break where it was connected to the body. I had it repaired with a local "luthier". Unfortunately, the repair did not hold. I had a friend there who wanted a guitar, and could not afford one. He wanted to attempt a repair to the neck, and so, I made a "gift" of the much loved guitar to a much loved friend.

Paul, I got to watch my brother-in-law do the carving this year. LOL!!!

It's me again... Thanks for all the good advice. I've found one that I am interested in. It was made ca. 1968 and has a "model" number of B194. Anyone have any information on it? I did a search here and found nothing. However, that could be fat fingers. LOL!

Location: SoCal | B194 would be the serial number, not the model number. But Ovation didn't make many models in 1968. Can you describe the guitar? |

I knew that!!! I got way ahead of myself when I was typing. :(
It's a natural finish, classical style, nylon strings. The neck is a little wider than standard, but not nearly a classical neck. No cutaway or anything like that. It is much the same as the one I had originally in the early 70s.
I'm trying to find out a little information about it, historically speaking...
