Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | I had an interesting (or maybe not) sort of "non-experience" on the Martin board. I did two or three posts, which received absolutely no reaction. Then a board administrator posted a thread asking members to be vigilant in welcoming new members. So, I posted to THAT thread and said something like "timely thread; I was beginning to think my posts were invisible to everyone but me," and, you guessed it, THAT post received no reaction. My last post, on that same thread, was "hmmm...guess they are invisible." Haven't been back since.
Now, compare that to the reaction to my first post on THIS board; I think the replies ran to two or three pages. Some of the posts in that thread spiralled dizzily off-topic (I'm pretty sure there were the usual posts about Al's dire need for meds that Phil still refuses to supply, and so on), but I sure wasn't ignored! |

I posted on the Breadwinner Fan board (see links on this site) and haven't gotten a stir. I ran some Viper pics, as I've probably burned out most of you, on Projectguitar's forum and received an OK feedback.
I had just found "I will worship" dot/com when it went down for upgrade and still hasn't returned.
I still like this site best! :D |

I'll occasionally go on there to offer some Ovation insight (especially for "newbies" asking questions), but for the most part I come away feeling like a Jew visiting the Vatican . . . |

We still pick up about 100 new members each month and traffic, mostly lurkers is phenominal and comes from almost every country on the planet that has an internet connection. |

Now that is a great metaphor.
That board is not friendly and very uppity.
It always makes this board look that much better. |

For anyone who had a problem getting personally attacked on the D'Addario board, your welcome, buy me a Coke next time we meet.

Location: La Honda, CA | Guess this says something about the ole' "Ovations ain't real guitars" bull, eh? Generally speaking you don't get a whole bunch of people excitedly talking about garbage (generally!)
I haven't tried the other guitar boards, but I do frequent the Cowboy Junkies board (an no, sadly, Michael Timmins does not appear to have an Ovation) and they use the same software, this UBB stuff. I really like it. I think it has a very useful and easy to use interface. A great complement to a great subject! |

Aren't Ovations the guitar of the future, those other boards have to appeal to their customers who lack two things, computers, too technical, and the problem of being unable to read or write. |

Location: NW NJ | Yep - I've been on several other boards on completely different topics altogether, and this is the only one that is worth my time - but boy, is this one worth my time. I'm relatively new here (about 4-5 months) and was thrilled to find a board of this quality that is devoted to the only guitars that have captured my heart and imagination. I have always felt welcomed here, gotten great advice, and have never been made to feel ignorant (although alot of the time I probably am ;) ). Al and Miles - you are absolutely the best! :D |
