| Went to a pawn shop today and found a Balladeer 1860 for around $400 - is this a wise investment? I need a quick response so I can go pick it up if it is.. I currently have a new Celebrity model.

Also depends on condition. If it's in decent shape that's a fair price.

Location: Central Florida | Can't really advise you since I can't see the guitar. If the neck just needs a good cleaning and fret dressing, it might still be worth it. Something else to consider in comparison to your Celebrity is the Balladeer is American made and has a solid spruce top vs. a laminate top on your Korean made Celeb. Makes a huge difference in sound (IMHO). Again, hard to say without seeing / playing the guitar in question, but hopefully that gives you a little something to chew on as you decide.

Thanks for all the feedback. Unfortunately, I still have not bought the guitar as the pawnshop will only move down to $350 - fair price?
Please keep in mind that I am somewhat of a novice at Guitar. I have been playing for roughly 9 months. I think that the 1860 sounds absolutely gorgeous compared to the Celebrity I have but am trying to save to go back to college this January.. I am strongly considering picking it up at $350 this afternoon - however - I can't afford having two guitars. The Pawn Shop offered me $125 for the Celebrity leaving me with a %225 difference. Does the Celebrity sell higher anywhere else? Let me know. Again, I appreciate all of your feedback and am wholeheartedly impressed with your enthusiasm to help me.

...Buy the guitar. After you start playing it, you'll most certainly skip/miss some classes, so just lighten the class load for one semester and it's paid for! :D |

If in the end you don't like it you can always get a different guitar. You probably will anyway. For the 225 it's well worth it. |

| I bought the guitar this afternoon - I'm on my lunch break right now and have been gone far too long.. Mr. Pawn Shop told me I had 7 days to return it so I'm having a Guitar wiz come over and examine it for me. If anyone wants to look I'll put some pictures up of it. It's orange, which the Ovation website does not list for that model. That is my only worry - should I be?
Anyhow, serial is something like 467576 or along those lines.. Just going off memory.
Thanks for all the advice! I will surely be listening to you all as I keep learning ;-P
