Location: Phoenix, AZ | Thoughts or comments on the Victor capo by Jim Dunlop? I know the G7th is considered the current hot capo, but it's twice the price. I've heard great things about the Victor capo (with no bad things about it), but I haven't read anything about it here. Wondering what OFC'ers thought about it. |

Location: Scotland | As probably the first person to sell the British-made G7 into the USA, long before it had USA distribution, I can tell you that it is in a different league to every other capo on the market. The Victor is a nice capo but it's a toy compared to the G7. John Pearse/Breezy Ridge distributes the G7 in the US and it's worth every cent. |

Location: Scotland | The guy who designed the G7 told me that his benchmark was the Shubb Deluxe and his goal was to produce a superior capo. In my veiw, and for 99.9% of capo users he's done it. I'm a huge fan of the Shubb capo and have used nothing else for 20-odd years, but the G7 is faster & easier to use with zero tuning problems, and from a design point of veiw it's also much sexier. |

But, for an item I'll only use sparingly (I rarely use a capo, pretty much only when I have no alternative), do I need to spend twice as much to have something most likely beyond my needs? In fact, I'll probably mostly use it to set up guitars. Also, the G7th is larger, and substantially heavier, than the Victor, making it a bit more awkward to use.
I realize the BMW M5 is the "ultimate" sports sedan, but if I don't need everything it offers, do I really need to spend $85K to get something beyond my needs? |

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | I have several Shubb Capos (still in the original packaging) if you are interested. I have played around with the Victors and the Shubbs are definately two notches above them.
They are also extremely lightweight and fairly easy to use. |

Location: Yucaipa, California | I have several Shubb capos and I love them... strong and reliable, but I also have one of the G7 Capos and feel they are really well made and certainly worth the money. They have the added advantage of not pulling the strings out of tune when applied... they are very nice. If I ever need another capo, I'd buy a G7 in a heartbeat.

Location: Columbus, OH | I bought a G7 from Pierce when he first got them. I wasn't overly impressed for the money. I've had lousy luck with Kysers (they throw my guitars out of tun) and I've had great luck with Shubbs. But the one I'm using on all of my gigs??? A Dunlop trigger. It doesn't send my guitar out of tune and it's easy to use and clamps to the mic stand. Bingo. |

Location: usa | i have two dunlop victors. i like them better than shubb or trigger types. it is very easy to dial in the right amount of pressure, and they are not overly pricey. also, it is fairly low profile and does not get in your way.
i can't think of anything wrong with them.
for my setups, though, i just pull out the trigger capo. the victor is designed to be used in a playing position. |
