Hello Everyone,
I just watched a video of Kaki on her website. Awesome lady, does anyone know if she uses standard or an alternate tuning? I hope she comes to Vermont.

I managed to catch the radio interview with her that Popcritic alerted us to the other day. That was my first exposure to her music and I must say that I was truly impressed.

A very distinctive style of playing. She said in the interview that because most of the time her left and right hands are working independently it requires using many different alternate tunings because her right hand is playing open strings much of the time.

Ditto. I've seen her twice ... simply amazing. She does a lot of moving to different tunings during her set ... and has the presence and aplomb to carry off a nice conversational interlude during the process. See her live if you can!
