Location: Wooster, Ohio | I was looking on the Ovation Homepage archive and saw a discontinued doubleneck #D868-X. Was this a domestic made guitar or import? I thought that domestic doublenecks were custom made? Does anyone know how many of these were made and how much they cost at the time of issue.

Location: Minden, Nebraska | Interesting question.... I have never seen one of those. Was that a USA made model? One reason I wonder is that it has an OP24+, the same preamp used on the import doubleneck. The higher end USA models seem mostly to have skipped that preamp, going from OP24 to OP-X to Optima or OP24+C, etc.

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I did a search on Google and came up with two Japanese music stores. Probably for export only. It had Schaller M6G machines so it is not a cheap guitar. If the websight is in Yen the guitar price converts to $12,000. Other store had it for $9,700.

Location: Central Oregon | Odd. Usually those double neck jobs look huge to me but that one doesn't. In fact I rather like it. Are the necks closer to together than they are on the Celebrities? Probably just the picture...

Location: Kent, England | ...and the 12 string neck is on the bottom whereas the celebrity is at the top as many other traditional double necks.

Location: Wooster, Ohio | I think they are too big when they use the standard body length. Look at the pictures posted here of Jimmy Pages's Double Ovation. That is why the Celebrity body is 3/4 size. To me the ideal would be the Celebrity size body in an USA made spruce top guitar. But that will probably never happen.
