I guess I'm the new owner of a solid body Viper with OHSC. Didn't mean to do that.

Note to self: Claim it was the sinus meds, she might believe that.

So, uh, say, what *is* the market value of a used Viper?

Ba-dum-bum! HAHAHA. I knew that was coming, didn't expect it so fast! :)

Seriously, though, were the Vipers ever done in sunburst? This one is, but the O.com site only shows natural and charcoal in the archives.

EDIT: Serial is 11393, is that really 70-72? Or does the five digit series only apply to A/Es?

It's probably from around 1976. Look in the reference section in the first part, early guitars and solid bodies.

Value? $300-450.

Thanks...hadn't thought about checking the ref section *here*! Sheesh, I must be a dolt today. :)

Huh, so $220 ain't bad...depending on condition when it shows up, I suppose. I may have to flip this one. =(

Hey Cruster,

You got a good looking axe! I had been watching it, though not bidding. I think you got a good deal.

Now we know one more fellow OFC'r on eBay so we can be careful about our bidding, unless it is something we realy must have.

Congratulations!

Noel-

Thanks. I wasn't intending to add to the collection, but someone, somewhere else here said, 'life is what happens while your planning.' :) Seriously, I was going to add a Hamer in a few weeks, but I'll take the Viper. :)

Now, for others...I have read apocryphal tales about the solid body Vipers having graphite truss rods. Vrais ou faux?

Truss rods on the Viper are metal.

Well, mebee I won't have to sell it. I broke the good news to the boss lady. After it was safe for me to come out of my office, she seemed to be OK with the idea. I mean, if she can have another kid, why can't I have another guitar? Am I right, or what?

I think I better head back to the office...I really was planning on a Hamer purchase down the road, though. Sigh, I guess I'll have to stick with the Os for now. ;)

When it comes to disagreements with your wife, it's ok to think you're right. Just don't be stupid enough to tell her that.
