Fellow OFC member BrianT and I played at the "Folkin' Friday" open mic night at Huber Breese. I had not played in front of people like that since I was a kid.
We did "The Kids Are Alright" & "Tequila Sunrise". Usually it is two songs and out. They let us do one more so we did "Get Together". After that, Paul Huber asked if we had "any more like that". We decided not to push our luck an called it a night. People in the crowd urged us to come back next month.
What a blast.

Congrats on a good night out! |

Location: south east Michigan | I know...Midland is a bit of a drive. Maybe someday I'll host a "Midwest OFC" jam session. Heck If those left coast guys can do it, so can we.

This could be the start of something big!!!
When the host is impressed, you are doing great. My only criticism is that non Ovation there in the middle, I assume it is just a place to stash extra strings in case you break one on your real guitars.
As us old geezers who have faced many an open mike crowd would stupidly say- ROCK ON!!

Location: south east Michigan | The Taylor in the back was a "House" guitar. Some people just used it instead of bringing their own. It was a tuning nightmare.

If your gonna play "WHO" songs, ya gotta pump it up!

It was a real crowd pleaser.
Brian & I became very aware how important song selection is. It is the unexpected, maybe even obscure ones that went over best.
For the next time we are thinking about:
Heart of Gold
The Weight (The Band)
Time (Pink Floyd) |
