Brand new mail order Ovation and a couple small problems, the plastic holder for the wires came unstuck on the inside. Took out the preamp and stuck it to the bowl. Is there any particular place it goes? Now, the thing that concerns me most, on the front there is a small indentation in the wood between the preamp and sound hole. Should I be worried about this or is this normal?

I don't know how worried you should be, but it isn't normal.

I would want a brand new guitar period. The folks at O and whomever you bought it from should make good on their reputation and customer service.

One of the advantages of some net retailors is the return policy. Call them, tell them it is defective and get a new one. In this case, it sounds like the instrument arrived damaged, so send it back!

I called today and am sending it back. No more mail order for me, too much of a crap shoot. Even if I have to pay a little more, I will buy from a store.

However, the difference is Al. P, He is very conscientious and service oriented in addition to his good deals. He can't be beat. I ordered my blue Balladeer LX through him and was 110% satisfied and will buy through him in the future. I have a Custom Legend on order through him now and I know that the likelihood of problems are virtually non-existent.

What John said but many months ago and with a different Ovation.

Not bad for "just some idiot that sells gear".
