Probably a very lame question but what should one expect to receive when purchasing a new Ovation/Adamas? (Outside of the guitar/case) My question is directed towards things like owners manual , manual on the type of electronics, certificate of authenticity etc...

Thanks...Terry

Electronics on the newer units should from OP30 on up o OP50 and OP Pro. Truss Rod wrench, key for the case, registration form, Owner's manual and - correct me if it stopped - a form to receive an Ovation gear bag.
Certification of Authenticity come with Collector's series and some of the more unique items.

You can also expect a fairly odd chemical smell when you open the case.

There will be a copious amount of New Ovation Owner Buyer Euphoria (Noobe or Newbee)!

There will be about a hundred more questions that come up as well.

Thanks for the info... Looks like all is their. It would look like the Q model doesn't issue a certificate of authenticity but that's ok. I had a very accomplished player come over and take a look. What an incredible sound (no amp yet). Expensive piece and my first but truly brilliant.

Thanks for the info. :D

Cheese and rice, I'm *way* behind on my guitar acquisitions if the new members are buying Qs to start with.

". . Cheese and rice . . .

I keep seeing this phrase popping up here from time to time . . .

Isn't that what you're supposed to feed a sick dog to keep him from uncontrollably spooing the new carpet . . . ?

Cliff - "uncontrollably spooing the new carpet . . . ?" Which is what you get with the purchase of a new dog?

Gear bags? I would have to run a search on the POC's from the last posts on that.

I think Al knows something about dem!

The gear bag promo ended the end of March....no good no more!!!!

I got one for buying my 1777 Legend. It's actually a backpack (albeit a nice one) with the Ovation name silkscreened on it.

Growing up in a Catholic household (while being raised with an equal helping of Jewish guilt ), I found that it was much less painful to say 'Cheese and Rice,' rather than the 'real deal.' Believe it or not, I got away with it and it's stuck with me all these years.

Hey, we have some 'men of the cloth' here, don't we? I wonder what the 'ruling' is on replacing the obvious expletive with 'cheese and rice.' Is it ok? Still a violation, because of intent?

Do I need more meds? :)

"Cheese and rice" went right by me.... Nils' approach certainly has a cathartic ring. It is one of those things I miss at times from my old Navy days that is frowned upon in my current profession.

Tony: I got the 'Army and Air Force' part.... It must be why I didn't get 'cheese & rice' to begin with. Just not quite profane enough (which is the point, it seems). I think a Chief Petty Officer would have opened a can of whoopass on me if I ever said, "Cheese and rice" as a form of cursing. I am quite sure a Marine would have.

Ain't this a grand continuation of the original thread?

One of the first things I noticed when I joined the OFC is that the heading of the thread often had no bearing on the posts.

I'm surprised Nils hasn't responded to the Univ of Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State xxxxxx's statement.

As a fellow, mellow, New Mexican; Welcome, and ignore all the salacious remarks from members with double envy. First, they don't have the luck to live in the Land of Enchantment and second, they don't have the great Ovation guitar that you mentioned. We are having a Las Cruces bluegrass festival next Saturday at Binn's Winery on West Picacho with some of the best Bluegrass bands in New Mexico, if you live close come on down and jam with the natives. I won't be playing but my son's band, Buckeye Bluegrass, will, I'll be there jamming on my mandolin for a while.

Welcome

Thanks for the invitation Bailey. Will be unable to make it. Sounds great. Wedding Anniversary time and have plans with my wife. (Greatest gal ever). I wouldn't ever be offended by anyone on this forum. The wealth of knowledge just makes me lean back and just listen. So far as the Land of Enchantment, well I have lived here basically all my life (46 years) and like the slow pace and beautiful scenery. Wouldn't mind having a few more trees, rivers etc...but can't imagine living anywhere else.

The banjo player in my son's band, Buckeye Bluegrass, moved here from Montana last year, he put on a bluegrass festival up there somewhere in the last few years.

We are very modern here and have replaced over half of our adobe outhouses with wood frame deluxe ones, some with, can you believe, FOUR holes. Out in our forlorn desert accross the mountains, the space shuttle landed a few years ago, but took right off when the astronauts heard strains of "Dueling Banjos" played by bandidos shouting "We don't need no steeenking Badges" as they cranked up the High Energy Laser at HELSTF. the most powerful in the nation about 50 miles from the site of the first atomic bomb blast. The astronauts were terrified by rumors that the bandidos had been exposed to atomic radiation and had overdeveloped sexual organs that made the horrible scene in "Deliverance" seem like childs play as their victims "squealed like Oryx" the African antelope that has almost taken over the White Sands Range and eviscerates any interloper by inserting their 6 feet long straight horns in the anal cavity and launches the victim to Holloman Air Force Base where Col. Stapp broke the sound barrier on his rocket sled trying to escape the bandidos.

Bluegrass is the least of our worries.

I forgot to mention Los Alamos, which is run by various universities, but populated by communist chinese scientists who, because of 50 year old news stories that stated we could not win a war with China because if we set up machine guns and machine gunned them as they marched into our country, they would reproduce faster than we could kill them and within 3 years they would have driven us from our homes and converted Kansas into a massive rice field destroying our beautiful wheat crops. Again, New Mexico would survive because even a Chinaman couldn't stomach our red hot chiles, and our adobes are wose than theirs. Therefore they have taken over Los Alamos and are directing atomic rays at the last bastion of resistance, turning our mariachi bands into prancing, costumed trumpet playing ballet dancers the sight of which will destroy all resistance.

Bailey,

As the proud owner of the real estate of the first Newkl'er (as GW says) blast rest assured that we here in Worshington still own the 55 gallon drums of stuff used to make the big boy. If seesquare thinks its the Northern Lights a'glowin to the west I don't want to ruin the story!

New Mexico is on my "love to visit" list!

As for "Cheese and rice" - if you put a pig in a dress - it's still just a pig in a dress!

Sorry Tony, but I'm not about to argue over a basketball team. Or is it a hockey team? Softball? Whatever. Beavers, now that's something a guy could get into!

Sorry, but I'm afraid my interest in sports could be measured in 'Micro-Giveashits'. :)

One thing I noticed here, and it makes me homesick. I arived in Roswell, NM in the late forties when my Spaces.., excuse me, vehicle crashed on the way to an actual civilized planet. My fellow Spacem.., excuse me, travellers, were killed on impact and became the butt of many uncivilized stories and jokes. I, however, escap..., excuse me, took on the characteristics of the typical New Mexican and melted into the society, where I am today. Bluegrass seems to be the closest to my super civilized home planet's, er, I mean, homelands ancient music. This web site has put me in touch with the closest society of alien, er, unusual, beings that I have seen since the honkery tonkery on the ancient planet, er, city, alpha centauri, Ohio.

I think I have met most of you at Roswell's celebration of my arrival. The pictures of the OFC tour show you all without your weird attemps at masks with slanty eyes and green heads but the clothes are the same. Very interesting to an alien, er, out-of-state, anthropologist. The mauve shirt is a declaration of main tom cat on some planets, HI shirts are worn by men of complete mental un hinging on others, who shout at sports displays, and let their wives wash the spaces..., er, car.

Happy Bluegrass earthlings, er buddies, enjoy it while you can, and you can for exactly 3723 hours 20 mins and 43.7778 seconds.

My "vehicle" is nearly ready for launch, it is being built by Studebaker.

It's the CANADIAN Studebaker, I prepaid $7 tingalingie galaxy dollars. They are delivering a copy of a FORD GALAXY vehicle which I understand from the name will allow me to "turn the quarter in less than a Minute" and visit the "wonders of American backroads". A GALAXY in the space continuum is the equivalent of a worm hole, I'm sure Studebaker knows this as they built the AVANTI a well known space traveller.

They wouldn't try to cheat an honest man, would they, the used car industry seems to be built on a solid base of integrity. NASA could learn a lot by studying it, I think thay based the space shuttle on those principles.

I did learn one song on this planet that I will take with me when I leave in my Studebaker, "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive".
