Location: SoCal | I know nothing about this but could come up with a short list. The Hamer site, most likely on another servicing company/server, was not hit.
As to security - probably not a good idea to have the same password on the OFC as you use for other accounts; purchases through PayPal to the OFC store wouldn't transfer any financial data, just payment amount credited to the OFC; as to posts, some of them end up on the internet - check it out, in searchs for Ovation or Adamas information, I have pulled up specific posts; email addresses could be obtained but worst damage I could see would be some spam.
In other words, doubt that there would be any useful information gained if hacked.
When I saw it this morning, just crawled back to bed and pulled a deep bowl over my head. |

The equipment, called a Long Range Acoustic Device, or LRAD, is a so-called "non-lethal weapon" developed after the 2000 attack on the USS Cole off Yemen as a way to keep operators of small boats from approaching U.S. warships.
Hearing experts say sound that loud and of that high a frequency — about 2,100 to 3,100 hertz — could be dangerous if someone were exposed to it long enough. Built by a company in Poway, CA. |

Wish I'd written down the words at the bottom of the "Hacked For Iraq" web page, I have a friend who speaks and writes Arabic, I could have found out if the phrases actually made any sense, or if maybe it's an American kid playing a joke.

Location: Scotland | I think it was Turkish, not Arabic. This guy has been busy and has disabled, temporarily or otherwise, hundreds of websites. Try a google search using the phrase "Cyber Warrior Tim" and you'll see the extent of his activities.
Non-lethal "acoustic" weapons have been in development since the mid-40's. The problem with high-levels of sound within the audible frequency range is that while it may not kill, it will seriously & permanantly damage hearing, consequently the ethics of such devices are still very much under debate where non-combatants may be involved. Many of the early experimental acoustic "weapons" were sub-sonic (below 20Hz). Exposure to extreme low frequency sound causes nausea, disorinetation & loss of control over certain bodily functions. The problem is that LF is omni-directional, so it's difficult to project accurately and requires huge amounts of power. As was discovered when the US Army mounted experimental sub-sonic devices to helicopters during the Vietnam conflict, and had chopper pilots literally shitting themselves. |

That's pretty much it. Hacks like what happened this morning are just that. They are kind of the cyberspace version graffiti. They (web bots) drive around the web looking for a wall (home page) that for some reason has a place not covered by secuity camera (read hole in microsoft webserver software). They run in, paint the wall (change the home page) and leave. Just an annoyance of the web. When I notified the host they had already been onto it and checking the server for any "real" damamge. |

Better to search of "hack attacks" or something related to find a newgroup, bbs, or just new article relating to him, rather tha n the direct approach. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I showed a story on this guy that I printed from a Turkish website(from my ONE Google search, no more than that, Miles) to a friend of mine who emigrated from Turkey and who speaks and reads fluent Arabic and Turkish....she said he is a horrible person and it sounds like he has a definite political agenda. On one site within Turkey he made threats against those who help the U.S. in Iraq. He also made Brazilian websites a special target for some reason.
