Location: Ontario, Canada | Don't know if this is an appropriate question for an "ovation" site but here goes.
My son started playing and visits a friend with a barn where they "jam". They found this old electric guitar that had no bridge, no nut or strings... it even had bird droppings on it. It is a Kent "videocaster". the friend said if my son wanted to fix it up he could have it. Does anybody know anything about this guitar. I've done Google searches on it but haven't got a lot on this particular model.
It has 4 pickups, 2 volume buttons below the strings and a bunch of tone buttons (push buttons) above. there are a lot of people on this site that seem to know a lot about guitars...I am not one of them so maybe someone could direct me to a web site or give me some kind of info. |

Location: Fayetteville, NC | Ok, I did a little research. The Kent Guitar Company was based out on New York and manufactured guitars until around 71 maybe 72 when they wer eshut down for copying the designs of the big guys(Martin, fender, etc> ;)
Ther's a guy named Bob Gatewood that has or had a n extensive kent Guitar collection.
you can find it here..
web page
Hope that helps to at least confirm the company
existed..
if anyone else has anything to add...post on.. |

the violin shaped ones are sought after and some of the stranger ones but usually not big with collectors unless they are into 60's/70's kitsch. |

Location: Ontario, Canada | Thanks Steve and Al. You guys came up with more in 1 minute than I did in about 2 hours of surfing last night. I looked at the web page Steve, and on the cover of the 1965 catalog was the guitar in question. I e-mailed the guy and am waiting for a reply. Al's take on the guitar was what I kind of expected..but you never know with these things. I have a friend who came across an old Gibson his dad had and when he sold it he was able to buy a large sail boat with the money. thanks for the help...I'll keep you posted if anything comes up |
