or maybe it's another style 4 with extra chrysanthamums on the cover plate and it's 6 serial numbers earlier than the one mentioned above.
or maybe it's the 59 Caddy tricone.

Most emotional attachment goes to my Peavey Predator (USA) strat-o-copy, but only because of who I bought it from, how long I've had it, etc.
First one I turn to when I want to play with 'feeling' is the Ovation.
One I wish I had: I worked with a guy for a couple of years that has (well, I assume he still has it) a Les Paul Custom (Black Beauty, two pickups) serial number 5. Or maybe it was 9. Whatever, the serial number was below 10. It had the usual finish checks and what not, but it was incredible to play. He also had an early, early Gretsch Country Gentleman (late 50's IIRC) that was awesome. Oh, and this super old banjo (four string jobber) with an inlaid US Flag on the back, that was something, too...more bling-bling per sq.in. than anything else I've ever seen.
Actually, now that I'm thinking about it...I'm happy with my three-git collection...for now. :) |

I would have to say my original custom Viper is the one I will always keep. If I had to pick one to keep, and only one, I really don't know. The wood top UKII, the Messina Deacon, there are so many.
The guitar I want, they haven't built yet. It would be similar to what someone else wrote.. A texture top Adamas slothead with the LX upgrade.
For Non-Ovations...
Well my Custom MCS Genesis #001 handbuilt for me. The guitar I have always wanted is on it's way. It's another MCS, but a 10-String Bich'esque model. Although I have a Hamer coming that is going to be neck'n neck with the handmades on which ones get played the most. |

Lusting for... something very thin with piezo and humbucking pickups, a hybrid. |

What I wish I had, unfortunately, does not exist.
I would like a 7-string Adamas (old-style textured top). I think the clarity and balance of the Adamas along with the strength of the carbon-fibre top (perhaps with extra bracing) would lend itself admirably to the extended range of a 7-string. Alas, it remains a(n)(impossible?) dream.
Any other 7-string fans on the OFC?

But I want a Custom Legend USA-paint scheme model but they list for $3,200 (out of my reach) and I would also like an Adamas...just not sure what model though. I played one and fell in love with it (as far as guitars go) :) Play On!

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | I just sold my favorite guitar to MWoody over a month ago. Glad it's in good hands, but I'm missin it. Was a 12 string custom legend with OP50. Sweet sounding.
On order with Al is my new workhorse to be, Adamas MEII. The anticipation is killing me. I guess it's on back order or something. There's just a HUGE void where the other 12 once was.
My currently most played O is my 6 string custom legend. It's convenient and comfortable to grab around the apartment. Don't exactly love it's shallow bowl sound plugged in (for strumming), but it's ok for jamming around the pad acoustically where I don't need a big, full sound. Love the finished neck on it though, and she writes most of my songs. We have a good connection somehow. Probably couldn't part with her for that reason. Some guitars just become an extension of yourself, even if they're not perfect.
I would LOVE a black adamas II textured top 12 string, cutaway with one epaulette, mid/deep bowl, and OP Pro system.

Is the MERB II the single epaulet unit with the GS bowl and the ANS neck? Very promising!
John L - I was impressed over the CL with the Flag shown in the "Made in America" DVD. Check out Samova's gallery for another option. |

The 1984 Collectors series natural bearclaw prototype s/n 110283. It now has a 1 3/4 neck so I can play it again. Was my main guitar for many years and now about the only Ovation I play. |

Mike! Very kind of you...the emotional scarring I left by sending her away would just simply be too traumatic for her. I couldn't do that. But thanks for the offer. Perhaps in time!

Not an MERBII, but 1598MEII (as far as I know). Not much of a fan of the MERB. The MEII is a very different guitar than that model. Yes, it has one epaulet.

| It has taken me 25 years to get them but I have been after a 12 and a 6 string Adamas with the carved headstock & bridge since I was 17. And I now have my fantasy electric doubleneck bass & 6 string with the purchase of the 4080 Rickenbacker. I have also found my musical nitch so to speak this year with the purchase of a 4003 Ric Bass that I converted to a 5 string. So I my hands are quite busy now. I still need, and want, a classical guitar and "It will be an Ovation" when the time comes to get it? I wish I never sold my 77 classical, I am pretty sure it was a 1613? again I am not good with the Ovation numbers but that Nylon string had a sound that actually blew a lot of the more expensive classical guitars right out of the water! I was always amazed how loud and clear the bass notes were when I played it! I think the one I will get now will be a 1700's series cutaway deep bowl in black? or perhaps one of those Mid bowls cutaway's from the oversea's market? Have to call Al, I forgot to do this?
I am taking a break from the Bass and playing electric guitar for a few songs, so I will get another electric sometime as well? I am leaning toward a Gibson es 137 or perhaps a Ric 480? I guess I will end up deciding with the exact sounds I am after? But with the effects available now I suppose I can make anything sound like I want, with a little tweeking?
I still need an 8 string bass as well? I have been looking at the ESP 8 stringers? They are not real expensive new?
I would like to find a used Ric 8 string bass but they are tough to find, WOW,! what a stage collection I could go All "Ovation" for the Acoustics and "Rickenbacker" for the electrics! I don't have GAS do I?

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | Hard to pick my "most beloved" guitar. But the one that gets played the most, that stays in the playing rotation nearly full-time, is my 2003-vintage 1777-4 Legend, so that must be it.
Mike Woody and I will have to arm wrestle for Nancy Wilson's #44 Adamas slothead. Or a bicycle race. First one to 50 miles gets it..... :D
Realistically, I'll "settle" for a black Al DiMeola Custom Legend.

It always comes back to my 1537 Elite. I get lured away by whatever is new and fun, but I always come back to that guitar. It's my "forever" guitar. The one I'll never get rid of.
As for what I'd like to have, well, the thought of a custom built deep bowl LX is fading. I'm waiting to see the OFC guitar, or what Ovation comes out with next year to commemorate the Adamas.
Right now tho', I'm happily in a holding pattern. |

Location: Tennessee | Oh, man ... they're all most beloved or I wouldn't have them. Right now, I'm playing my factory-fresh refurbished 1271 Viper (all mahogany) the most. But I just love the way my 2000 Collectors plays. The CL12 is great to pull out, but it would be sacrificed if I had to pare down the lot. On the bass side of the house, my '96 Viper (strung with flatwounds) is just a dream to run up and down the neck. For the non-O's ... I get mesmerized playing the Ric vintage 12, and lose track of hours. The surf-green Charvel Surfcaster connects with me in a way that's pure vibe. My Hamer is simply the best crafted guitar I've ever put my hands on. But nothing falls into hand quite like my 20+ year old Strat.
The one I could only wish I had? BLACKIE. Failing that, I wish we could get the high-end OFC guitar into the mix. |

Location: Hicksville, NY | I've owned many guitars over the years, but pretty much, my Ovation balladeer, Martin DM and Sigma SDM18 are the most beloved of my instruments for several reasons.
Sigma SDM18: my only Korean-made guitar (I used to own four) that have survived the many years of abuse and neglect from my college years and beyond. It has/had more than its fair share of parks, beaches, campfires, dorm rooms, fraternity parties, classrooms, coffee shops and smoky bars. After a seven-year (almost) hiatus from playing, and getting back at it again, it's always ready to serve and has never let me down. The 16-year partnership that I had with it is irreplaceable. It's only recently that it's getting the pampering it long deserves, and will always have a place in my heart ...
Ovation 1861 Standard Balladeer: My very first American-made guitar! Owning an Ovation was on my "dream list" since I can remember when. However, economics, financial difficulties and "extremely" thrifty family relatives prevented me from owning one. The years of waiting finally paid off on April 2004 when the guitar found me while taking my niece's flute for repairs at a local music shop in Queens. Although it is dated at 1997 (as I found out later through the serial number), the guitar came fresh out of the box, and was in brand new condition. This time, I was fortunate to be employed and afford it out of my own pocket. I didn't even have to bug my wife for money -- yeehaw! :D
Martin DM: a month after purchasing my O, my other "dream list" came true. Just like the Ovation, this guitar also found me while shopping for a microphone at Sam Ash. This time, I begged my wife to help me take it home ... fortunately, she was kind enough to comply and not bop me in the head! Eventually, the guitar was paid in full in a little over a month. Thank goodness for overtime wages! :)
After weeks of giving it plenty of thought, I finally purchased an Applause AE-48. Now my three above-mentioned babies can stay safely home, while the Applause takes over as "the" beater guitar.
What I want to own ... someday ...
a Martin D-28 or HD-28; and an Ovation Custom Balladeer
Peace!

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | My best guitars are definitely Connelly & SixOhSix, since they were rebuilt by The Mothership. HOWEVER, I am more emotionally attached to my own repairs. I literally have blood, sweat, and tears in these critters. I may eventually part with them, but it will be akin to a formal adoption process, I think. I'm conflicted, though. I SHOULD be able to set them free (again) to find their way in The World. That FD currently on Ebay is pretty enticing. Gotta generate some funds, and some room. |
