Location: Upper Left USA | I had an opportunity to visit the tacoma Ted Brown Music this last week. This time with my 12 year old daughter in tow. I was determined to do less talking and more open listening to what she thought about some of the instuments.
The Acoustic Room still held the aforementioned New 1996 "Book" Elite - still sounding as good as it looks. Lynnz was impressed by the Ruby Red Adamas as it shifted from black to red and back. She impressed me when she looked at the LX Display and said "There's one like yours". I did well to hold back a long dissertation on ANS necks, GS Bowls, scallops and Dual action truss rods. She was impressed by a Burled Walnut Panelmeister and also noted the Tacoma guitars - my other favorite.
When asked "What is the coolest looking in here?" she went over to the mandolins. We walked through the different sounds of Baritone Ukes, Applause Ukes, Mandolins and a Resonator.
Then on to the Electric solidbodies. The Display and products of the "Daisy" guitars is always an eye catcher. They feel OK and if it encourages young players I'm for it.
I was amazed when she picked out a 12 string Hamer in Birdseye Maple and a Schecter S1 dappled in Abalone. There's hope for this kid!
TB in Tacoma - Well stocked - Sales people there to help and quick to step back. Thumbs up.

Location: Midland, MI | When I go into the local Guitarget, I have to take my mojo bag with me so as not to fall under the spell of the black Schecter S1-Elite they have strategically positioned between the front door and the acoustic room. Not a big fan of abalone, but that git is a siren...
My 14yo son has decided that my old Stratocopy is now his. I'm happy, and I'm sad. Glad he's taking an interest in music (finally) but bummed out as that one is an old friend...you know how those maple fretboards get after years and years of playing (and no cleaning)...dings here and there
edit: I meant 'black cherry' not 'black'. I'm going to bed. :)
