Just watched Inside Fame on CMV featuring Glen Campbell and even though I'm sure you all know the story, he is shown playing a wide variety of Ovations including a 12 string Bluebird. I mention this because my TV guide shows an Inside Fame on Wednesday and they often repeat shows throughout the week so if you want to tape some vintage Ovations you might check out Wednesdays programs. If they follow their usual schedule, the Inside Fame following is about Waylon Jennings and has some great insight into the music business's ups and downs.

Bailey, did you happen to catch the recent GCampbell interview on Nightline? His wife was with him, they were discussing the recent events, etc...I've watched him since I was a kid, and he sure has gone through some changes...if we could only persuade him to make an instrumental album....

I caught the Dateline interview Friday night and was happy to see Glen formally stand up and take responsibility for his actions, both past and future. However, on a different level altogether, as a certified "O-Head" I was a bit let down to see him playing (and holding throughout much of the interview) an old Martin D-18; eventhough it's one he's had quite a while, as I recognized it from pictures of his days as a session player.

In recent years, Glen has made it a practice of having a guitar handy whenever he sits down for an interview. But up until the Dateline broadcast, his guitar of choice when being interviewed in his home has been pretty consistantly a black, non-cutaway Custom Legend. Given the recent history of Martin, they're no doubt ramping up the "Glen Campbell 'Dateline Edition' Signature Model" as we speak. ;)

Hi Jeff, I guess you've seen him many times before in interviews; he looked 'out of it' to me, maybe he was a little tired or just under some pressure from the inteview; as far as guitars he probably has more than we could count...I've seen him play several different strats, 12-strings, taylors, mossrites, and that martin he had may very well have been one of his first guitars...wouldn't surprise me if he had a hundred of 'em...

I read an interview (or maybe it was a transcript of an online chat) he did about 4-5 years ago, and in it, he said he still had in his posession almost all the guitars he used on the "Goodtime Hour" TV show. Wouldn't you just LOVE to see that room... Talk about an Ovation lovers panacea!
