Don't mean to sound flip about it, but over the last year we've gotten the dog two new knees. It's amazing what can be done now. You'll be back up and running in no time.
Uh, are you going to have to stay penned up for 6 weeks and only allowed to go outside to pee and poop? |

I wish I could have both knees done but only one is bad enough to do right now. Thanks for the encouragement. |

Its that new nut that ought to really get you worried. I mean cut a little bit low, and that sting of yours will buzz while you're playin'. |

Best of luck! I have a friend who just turned 80 and had her knee replaced 6-weeks ago and she was up and walking in 2 days! She is now showing no signs of the operation and is fully functional.
Best wishes! |

Location: Monroe, Ohio (Cincinnati) | I knew someone who had hip replacement and they had him up and walking 6 hrs after surgery so scar tissue couldn't build up and to keep the join from getting stiff.
If they still follow this process, good luck with that.
I am sure long term you will be like a new man.
My wife is 37, but due to a serious knee injury at 16 she has a terrible knee. They said she was a candidate for knee replacement, but she was too young. I guess they only expect them to last for 15 to 20 years depending how active you are.
She has to have arthroscopic surgery every 3-5 years to clear out the scar tissue and improper cartilage growth. I believe she is about due again. Maybe they have developed implants that will last longer since the last time she had surgery and she can consider a replacement. |

We'll miss you here, but trust in your complete recovery. Walking is worth the work and the wait.
While you are recovering, you can think about a new name for you like one of those three word blues player names. |

Good luck. You'll do great. I work for a company that makes total knee replacements and the technology is amazing. God Bless. |

As long as they're gonna be "in there",

It's just another "adventure"... The pisser is when you get home the kids will ask you to get stuff for them as they watch TV... "While your up..."
I can't wait for the "tour stop" to hear the details.

Good luck, and make sure you keep an O parked next to where you are recovering. You don't need no steenkin' knee to play a geetar, just demand your instrument as an important therapy device. By the time you learn to play an Irish jig, your knee will be healed enough to dance along with it.

Location: Germantown, MD | Sorry I was on vacation when you posted, Willard. I had my right knee replaced on 19 December 2002, was going up and downstairs four days later. I was driving by January 27, and that was with more swelling than my doctor had expected just after the operation--which slowed physical therapy. I hope yours goes even better.
The worst part is that I now set off metal detectors. This sounds like a trivial thing, but some of the security people seem determined to make the ensuing search as humiliating and unpleasant as possible. They seem to think that anyone who sets off the detector is a terrorist until proven otherwise, even if the person is carrying a card certifying the type and location of the implant.
Peace,
John |
