Location: Burbank | Today I had time to go to the Guitar Center, Sherman Oaks. It was mixed emotions. Yes they had a 1771LX, yes they had a 1777LX, and yes they had 30th anniversary CL, and yes they were all out of reach! They had a bunch of Celebrities that were dirt cheap all over like ants at a picnic! I have a test I use with acoustics that I like. I do a full G 3rd fret bar chord and let 'er ring. I got a step stool got down the 1771, G chord, beautiful. The 1777, G chord, beautiful. Then I went to the "Martin Room" got a D-28, G chord.....mudd! It in no way had the range that the LX's did, and I didn't have time to try the 30th CL, but based on the one I tried yesterday no match. Just my opinion though your mileage may vary! |

Location: south east Michigan | I'm not afraid to use the step stool at the GC. I got an Elite LX down yesterday. I did not put it back where I found it. I left it on a floor stand.

Location: south east Michigan | My local music store of choice has all the their Ovations on floor stands. Good to get to, but bad because it can seem like they don't rate "wall space". And, I can find the 30th displayed between an MOB and a Tangent.
