Location: Lafayette, Louisiana | Hello everyone. Looking at the photos of the Ovation tour, I really like the pics of the guitar done with the American Flag. I know we have talked about these guitars in the past, but did anyone in the tour see the guitar being done? Is this airbrushed? Does it have the same clear finish that other Ovation guitars have? I would really like to learn more about how this is done. It looks beautiful......Paul Hebert |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | I have one of the flag guitars ,although its not one of the American flag guitars..The guitars as Al Pep said are not done in house. They are done by an outside vendor who does a great job with the graphics. It has a 3D look to it and they use some type of glitter flake to really highlite areas.Mine also has a black burst outer edge and some black shading throughout the guitar. Its a custom legend, mid bowl,op50 electronics..It sounds great.......I had posted a pic of mine somewhere on this site.Cant remember where now.. |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | Al, no stars and bars here,i may live in the south but im not southern...
The flag guitar is a special order i made for a commemorative olympic 2004 guitar. The Olympics return to my home country of Greece in 2004.I ordered two Greek Flag custom legends. The reason i ordered two was ,one for me and one for a Popular Greek artist named George Dalaras. He is the most popular artist of Greece and has a career spanning over 30 years. He has played ovations for most of those years. He currently plays a CVT (cobalt blue)Adamas and loves it.It was i believe the first one made at the time.He got it almost one year before they actually went into production.I ordered it for him and gave it to him.Anyway, the flag guitar was givin to him before a sold out show at Radio City Music Hall in New York.He loved it.He alos sold out a show at the meadowlands(22,000 people). My hope by presenting him the guitar is that he uses it during the opening ceremonies of the 2004 olympics.I suspect he will be one of the artist singing and playing that night. This would be a huge adverisement for Ovation worldwide as millions watch the olympics. This artsit Dalaras has played and recorded with Al demiola,Sting,Ian Anderson,Paco de luthia and many more artists. He has sold millions of copies of albums and CD's.Sorry for the long story but i thought i would explain why i ordered the flag guitars..The guitar sounds great plugged and unplugged. Its the only newer ovation i own and really enjoy playing it |

| Samova-
Can you give us a ballpark idea of what Ovation charges for a custom painted top? (I'll guess $450 above the cost of the guitar itself.)
