Was there a specific reason that some don't have a color code on the end? My Balladeer just says 1111 on the inside. It's a white top. Was there no color option at the time of its production (1982)?

And, does a foil label with 1111 (only) give any indication, as to its age? Mine also has a black peghead and neck, with "Balladeer" in script between the tuning machines.
