This probably belongs on the Hamer site but I can navigate this board better.(Nice Job Miles!). I'm confused again. After the tour and seeing the detail and time that goes into a Hamer guitar, why are they so cheap on Ebay?

Make sure you're looking at Hamer USA models ... the offshore models carry the Hamer name but very little of the quality. A lot of 'em can be had brand new for a couple of hundred bucks.

USA Hamers are definitely a bargain on eBay, although I wouldn't necessarily call them cheap. Perhaps they don't always get bid up very high, but most owners (and dealers) know their true value and put realistic reserves on them. That said, spending a grand on a Hamer gets you as good or better guitar than people are paying two and three times that much for one with a Gibson or PRS on the headstock.

After seeing the tour and hearing the passion that Jol puts into his craft, I went home and held my Hamer with a whole new level of appreciation for it. Was thinking of kissing it, but was afraid I'd make the O's jealous. :D

Stoneebobo..glad you and your wife got home OK. I forgot about the offshore guitars. Is that what are called the Slamers? It's too bad Ovation and Hammer were forced to even go offshore with manufacturing but they probably didn't have a choice. I'd like to find a Hamer like the ones that were on the table near the paint booth.
