Location: Dallas, GA, USA | After a doctor's appt I stopped by GC to browse around (I had never been in before), and lo and behold, among about 10 O's on the wall is a beautiful black Adamas... I took it down and played it, and boy does that thing play and sound sweet! Once my Visa card started trying to slice its way through my wallet I had to leave. It isn't worth getting divorced over. Now I have to sit here and look at my old Balladeer and Celeb... Oh well. |

Location: SoCal | Take your wife over to see it. I did that 7 years ago when I lusted after Big Blue (Adamas 12 string). To my surprise, she loved it too. Is the black Adamas a new one or an older style guitar? |

Location: Dallas, GA, USA | It was a 1597 in natural carbon fiber. My wife didn't flip out when I told her about it... she actually wanted to know more saying "Santa may need to know something about what you like". Am I dreaming??? |

Location: Dallas, GA, USA | I meant W597. The wife and I went back today, and she listened to the Adamas and a 2002 Collector's they had, and she said "I think you should buy that one (the Adamas)". I just couldn't make myself spend that much with my playing at this point. Bad thing is, the 02 Collector's was soooo beautiful I really wanted it to sound better than, or at least as well as the Adamas. There was absolutely no contest. The difference in sound was shocking considering there was only $120 difference in the two. |

Buy it. Pay for it over 6 months and have a guitar that you will own the rest of your life. I have never regreted spending big bucks on a good Ovation. |

Hit GC up with the no interest for 6 months or a year... and JUMP in. She will love seeing you so happy. You will love her more... I think it's a win win.
I know this feeling.

Location: Dallas, GA, USA | This is the She! I have had to 'talk' him into several things - the boat, the pistol, and the streetbike, just off the top of my head. So how do I talk him into the Adamas?? He thinks I may have designs on kidnapping the Celeb (and he may be right!)! The Adamas looked better than what I expected and the sound was amazing. He deserves it, so why can't I convince him??? Please help me persuade him...Open fire! |

Location: Dallas, GA, USA | OKOKOKOKOK!!! If I have to spend the money to keep my wife... Now that I've been browbeaten I got some Adamas questions... The ones I see on eBay are mostly an opaque finish (where the CF doesn't really show through), and I see them described as CF/Birch tops. Is that newer or in any way functionally different? I like the look of the one I played much more. Next question... the Adamas is marked $1637 with a $250 rebate, leaving $1387 plus 5% tax, or $1456.35. I see this guitar on the net for $1399. Normally it would be no contest, as I like to support the local guy. But considering that GC is the WalMart of chain stores, I don't really expect to see a return on the $$$ except for the fact that I don't have to worry about rough handling while one is shipped to me. Have I about summed it up? Now, there's just the matter of learning to play it a little better than Phoebe Buffet... I have Smelly Cat pretty much down cold. |
