I ran across this awhile back.

Stringing your guitar

It seems to work well as far as keeping the strings from slipping out of tune.
It is kind of a pain on the top two strings because of thickness. Anybody else use this method?
I'll admit that it took me a couple of tries of looking at the diagrams, then looking at my guitar, them looking at the diagrams, then looking at my guitar, then looking at the diagrams...

I do something similar...I just don't do that overlap thing...that looks questionable to me. The "Z" formation through the peg works great, but I would think that ANY overlapping of the string on itself would cause problems staying in tune, espeically on the thicker, wrapped strings.

I have been doing this for years on all my guitars...not sure where I first saw it but it works great. The diagram, however, does not go quite far enough. The string only goes over the string end for the first wrap and then just wraps around the post in the usual fashion, each wind going progressively lower on the post. This keeps slight upward pressure on the wraps and holds the intersected loop tight, not a chance of slippage using this method.

Give it a try!

It works, but it isn't very complicated, just make the second wrap around the post overlap the first and it will never slip. You don't need to bend the end up as shown and you can do it with a crank, just make one turn and tuck the string above the first turn and crank away. I used to be able to do it in seconds between songs when a break occurred.
