Location: San Francisco, CA | I just looked at Ovation's catalog & was surprised to learn that 2003's top is only AA spruce. Not AAA. Same level as regular Elite.
Nothing new, other than the walnut epaulets & tortoise-style binding.
Anyone got one & compared to other Ovation, e.g. 2002 or 2001? | |

I picked up a 2002 collector's edition last February after comparing it with many other guitars, including the newer 2003 collectors. The sound was very similiar with both guitars, but the Cherry red top of the 2002 helped in my decision.
The problem with the 2003 in my opinion is that the wood color is just too boring compared to the other ovations. After owning a dreadnaught for many years I look for unique design and colors- the 2002 meets that need.
