Hello, just found the site and just joined. My guitar is an electric Ovation, very unusual body shape (looks like a battle axe if that helps), two pickups, the serial # is E 6207. If anyone could tell me anything about it, when it was made, the name of it, possible value etc. it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you have either a breadwinner or a deacon. They?re both the same guitar, but the deacon has a few fancy bells and whistles like a bound fretboard with diamond shaped inlays. According to the serial number you gave your guitar was made somewhere between 1973(Jan)-1975 (Feb). See the 'reference' section of the board for serial number info. I believe the breadwinner was the first production guitar to successfully integrate an active preamp. A cool guitar, but not extremely valuable on the market. They go for between $400-600 depending on condition and mood of the bidders on e-Bay. Other guys here on the board may be able to tell you more.

Okay, matching it up on the serial number section helped a little bit, I think, unless it's still incorrect. It says that a serial number of "E+ 4 digits" would mean it was made between '73 and '75. The first number, 6, means it's an Adamas. The second number, 2, means it's a solidbody electric. And the second two numbers appear to be meaningless to me because those are used to identify acoustic/acoustic electrics.
So that means it's an Ovation Adamas?

An Adamas is an acoustic, not a solidbody. If your guitar has a gloss finish & bound neck it's a Deacon. Textured finish with unbound dot-neck makes it a Breadwinner.

You're confusing the model number with the serial number. The Model number of a Breadwinner is 1251 & Deacon is 1252 (1253 for the 12-string) Back then the first digit was always "1" The second digit "2" indicates a solid or semi-solid guitar, the rest of the 4-digit code doesn't make any sense with Solidbodies.

Thanks alot for your help.
I have one more question, however. On the back of the guitar is the metal plate that says "Ovation Instruments, New Hartford, Conn Made in the U.S.A" and when I remove that there is a sticker on the back that says "replace battery when tone distorts." Though there is no battery to be found. At all. Also on that sticker it says "Mallory #MN 1604", "Eveready 3222", and "Burgess #2MN6". Does any of those mean anything?

Also, it has an unbound neck and gloss finish.

If you remove the rear access panel (not the neck plate) there should be battery holders in there if it is a Breadwinner or Deacon. If you could post pictures (there is a place to upload them in the MEMBERS SECTION) that would help.

". . ."Mallory #MN 1604", "Eveready 3222", and "Burgess #2MN6". . . "

Those are old make/models of batteries
(two of which I don't THINK even exist anymore).

That's where the sticker is, behind the rear access panel. When I remove it, there is what appears to be enough room for a 9 volt battery, but no battery or mechanisms for a battery.

I'll try to get some pictures uploaded tonight or tomorrow.

Cliff is right, the numbers are old product codes for 9v batteries.

An unbound neck makes it a Breadwinner, but it shouldn't have a gloss finish. Is it gloss or just a well worn textured finish? Most of the spackling on my 2 has gone. What colour is it? Sounds like the active electronics are long gone, which usually happens when the pickups get swapped out, both common occurences. While non-original pickups/electronics may hurt the value to an collector or Ovation purist, it doesn't neccesarily make the guitar any less valuble as a player's instrument. Post a pic
