As you might know, I picked up an Aniversary Ovation (1978?) a few weeks ago. The top was very warped, but it actually played OK if you stayed on the first 12 frets. It was fine for 3 weeks. I played it Wednesday night and it still sounded great. I went to work, came home, picked it up, and it was unplayable. The E string was buzzing, practically laying on top of the first fret.

I turned the truss rod nut 1/2 turn back and it is playable again, but for how long?

Any ideas about what could have happened? The weather here did change. It turned 60 and a ton of snow melted and it was foggy for a few days, but it didn't affect any of my other guitars.

TIA

Sometimes what causes the top to warp is that the bracing on the back of the top has come loose. I'd recommend examining the inside of the guitar, especially under the bridge area.

Thanks, I'll get my mirror out and give it a look. I hope it isn't getting worse because I just picked it up as a "go to the beach" guitar. All I want it to do is to be playable.
