I have a custom balladeer 1712,it has a natural finish and sounds great. Could someone enlighten me to some of the contrasts between Balladeers and Legends. At A glance I know I could not tell them apart. Also for any of you Paul Simon fans I came across a site showing his Black Legend being sold by his ex wife Carrie Fisher at the Forbes auction. It had some great shots of it,and yes its the one from the Concert in the park.

The Legend has (I believe) a better grade of wood on the top and (I also believe) a different bracing pattern. It also has binding along the neck.

btw: Paul's Central Park guitar was a Custom Legend.

Mark, I have a 1712 Custom Balladeer also. Mine has a white top, with a black neck and fingerboard. I had a Legend for some time, and I must tell you they didn't sound that different to me. I wanted to ask you, wasn't the black Ovation Paul Simon used in Central Park a Custom Legend and not a standard Legend? Thanks...Paul Hebert

Thanks for the info guys. Re: Paul Simon i'm sure your right that it was a custom Legend. I seem to remember reading an interview some time back where some guys from Ovation went to his sound check at central park and offered his band the ovaitions they used. I think one of the guys got up on stage and played "Kathys song" in front of Paul and liked how the guitars sounded. Any one else know that story?

Hey Paul could you post a picture of your Balladeer? I would love to see it. I intend to post a picture of mine as soon as I get back from the shop.
Be good.
