Ovation tells me this is a Balladeer Special--made in 1982/1983 then discontinued. It is a balladeer body, with FOAM neck like the matrix model--except it has a rosewood fingerboard--(instead of aluminum I believe)--what is the "foam"-anyone have one-thoughts??????

The foam refers to "Urelite" a high density urethane foam which Ovation used for necks on the Medallion/Matrix & US-made Applause, Ultra & Balladeer Special. It was also used for UK2 and Bluebird bodies, & the peghead overlay on early Adamas. Do searches on "Matrix" and "Ultra" and you'll find several posts on the foam/ali necks. You'll find the search link to the right of the Ultimate BB heading, above.
