Location: Atlanta,Ga. | I owned one for about six months..Not a very good guitar..Terrible attempt to ride the roundback ovation bandwagon..They did not last long on the market..Sold mine quickly and bought an Adamas instead |

Location: Scotland | Gibson J25, laminated top, they stink, dreadful instruments. Gibson acoustics were generally pretty awful from the mid 70's right up until they started production at the old Flatiron mandolin factory in Montana. Having said that I quite liked the Gibson Mark series from a few years earlier. |

:D I have a Gibson J-200 from 1973. It is well made and has great tone ( ;) did I mention it's going on EBay pretty soon? ;) ). Anyway I agree. Not a great period for Gibson. I almost picked up a top-of-the-line Gibson Mark guitar. They were being closed out at a music store near Milwaukee somewhere around 79 I think. It seemed to be a good guitar, interesting idea. They show up from time to time on EBay.

Location: Scotland | The Marks were intersting guitars & quite a departure for Gibson, who took a leaf out of Ovations book and aplied science to guitar-making. The Marks used Kasha-theory bracing, which was originally designed for classical guitars, which might explian why a lot of Marks self-destructed. The odd-looking "impedance matching" bridge is currently used by Steve Klien on his guitars. The lumber allegedly went through some kind of aging process. I've owned & sold a few of these. Good sounding guitars, different to the usual Gibson tone, but not good enough to replace my Ovations. |

I dealer that I visited recently had some on display near some Celebrities and Ovations.
I didn't have time to pick one up to try it. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Give Gibson credit for trying. Of course they totally fucked it up like most things they did in that time frame. Not that they had a lock on it, most all maunfacturers of that time have wonders they would love to forget. However good guitars can always slide out of the factory, as noted by Bradley.
The thing about the Gibson was that they knew there was a trademark on the shape so they did it right, go after the concept but keep the design clear of patent infringements. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | I have to be honest, I was sure when I saw it that it was a joke made up by putting an Ovation back on an acoustic by manipulating photos. I missed the gibson roundback completely whenever it was issued, shows you what kind of splash it made, or should I say Klunk it made. |
