Hi All,

I have an Elite 1868. I am dreading the strap comming off at some time and want a strap lock system.

What do people here find the best ? Is there anything that can be used that doesnt require changing the pegs ?

Frobs;

I've seen some ads (I THINK it was Planet Waves) for a strap that has almost like a "dial" on the end of it. You slip the end over the peg, turn the dial and it locks itself around the peg.

Never tried one, but it looks interesting.

All USA Ovations for at least 10 years have had Dunlop straplok sockets fitted at the factory. Yours should have these, they look like oversize standard buttons but have a socket to accept the locking doo-hickey which goes on your strap. The locks aren't available separately as far as I'm aware, so you'll end up with an extra pair of buttons, but a Dunlop straplok kit compatible with your guitar only costs about £15 in the UK.
Take a look at this link & scroll down to the "Dual Design" model. This is the button which is fitted to current Ovations.

I have had Schaller straplocks on my Adamas for years now. They always worked great. I can't say enough good things about them just like I love Schaller tunning keys....Paul Hebert

My Adamas came with one endpin (walnut) and this ring at the neck end. I use one of those Planet Waves straps that are designed to be "tied on" at the headstock and have a quick-release clip. I just shortened the "tie-on" cord, and have it securely tied to the ring. I use the conventional endpin at one end and the quick-release at the other. The tied-on device just stays with the guitar.

Cliff, looks like it's been to a body piercing studio. You could get your nipple pierce and just get a kinky little chain to attach the two rings instead of using a strap!

Dude, the kids today will think you're really happenin'!

Yeah, that's ALL that I'd need!

I'm having a hard enough time as it IS keeping my nipples out of my pants pockets!!!

I use a strip of leather, tie it over my strap unto the endpin. Keeps it from slipping just fine.

What in the hell is this strap, when did they invent it? No wonder my mandolin keeps falling on to the floor when I acknowledge applause by waving both hands. Boy do I have a lot to learn, good thing I found this board, now I won't have to keep having my mandolins repaired every time someone applauds, if someone ever does. Before that I'm going to get me one of those straps, with that I can eat chicken and play at the same time. Thanks.

If we have enough chicken and beer, we don't need no steenking instruments, making this straplock nuisance null and void.
