Location: Phoenix AZ | Non cutaway supershallow guitars are pretty rare. Fugot's got 2 (contempory folk classic, 1537) and I've got 1 (Adamas I). The palm tree reso at the factory is also a SS noncut. Probably there have been some customs and limited runs, but they sure don't show up very often. None of the collectors series were supershallow noncuts. Dave |

Not sure about those Sam Ash guitars, but I do know of one supershallow Adamas (non cutaway) that in fact sounds very nice acoustically. I may be just a tab biased, but honestly this thing out-sounds many other (deeper) guitars in my collection.

Location: Minden, Nebraska | That's a nice guitar, Dave. The Sam Ash run was cutaway, and perhaps that is what makes the difference. I may have made an overgeneralization, but I have had 3-4 of them, and didn't like the sound of any of them.
My professor of Greek was fond of saying, "Greek is a language of rules and for every rule there are exceptions." Given that Allan Holdsworth is an exceptional guitarist, it isn't surprising that this guitar is an exception. And I am glad that you have it. What a great addition to an already fine collection! |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Yeah, I think there are exceptions. I had a shallow SMT and it absolutely sucked acoustically. Same for every other SS I have every played except for an elite 12 string and this adamas. Guess you gotta try them all to know what you like and don't like (a nice full time job). Dave |
