Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | In June, I ordered a custom made Adamas thru Al. Today is the day it is to arrive. I'll find it a bit hard to focus on much else, but the delivery of:
A reverse red-burst textured top- suspended ring mount, 12fret, slot-head with a mid-depth cutaway bowl and 1-7/8 wideneck and other custom appointments...
The suspense is mounting... |

You forgot to mention that if I am the only one taking pictures, it will be aproximately 10 days after that pictures will be posted because as you know I still use that 4 letter word FILM. This should help the fence sitters even more to get off their A$$E$. Just trying to help. |

It's time to close your mouth. If you keep it that wide open any longer it will cramp in that position and the flies are going to start coming in.
Enjoy, Remember slow shallow and even breaths.

I could understand if I wanted a standard production run to be changed to without electronics......but on a custom order being built to my specs....shouldn't have to pay additional for leaving something off that was never on to begin with (hence the custom order!) |

The neck and fretboard are dreamy. The guitar is very light.
What stuck me right off is that it has VERY deep bass, remember this is a mid-bowl. Seems as loud, but warmer and more mellow than a Ute, but ALL ADAMAS. Under a pick, I don't think it can actually be overplayed. It just keeps asking for more.
Playing fingerstyle it settles right out brightens-up and is very rich and even across the strings with a powerful, yet delicate, beautiful tone.
It might out-sustain the Lowden, which is nothing short of astounding (though it does have slightly heavier gauge strings than the Lowden).
All this and it has D'Add Exp's on which I do not like, so it's only gonna get better...
The cosmetics are perfect. It is a very beautiful guitar. The pictures that are currently being uploaded to my "Opics" page, show the guitar as an almost orange/red, but actually the reverse-red burst is fairly dark and subtle in person.
I'm VERY happy with it. My thanks to Al and the folks at the Mothership for making a truely fine instrument. |

(I've just been through a similar event myself. What that factory can produce can be stunning. I am completely and totally impressed and blown away by this guitar. Yes it is an Ovation)
Acoustic only will give you a bit of an edge in sound. Getting bone saddles on your pickup will get it as close as you can get to the total acoustic and that is real close. |

There is something strange with the ubb code which will not allow me to "name" the url. The above link is working. click on it and then click on Custom U681t near the top. It should get you there.
The guitar appears wayyyyy more red in these pics than it actually is.
Enjoy. |

Location: Keller, TX | That is essentially what I am having built. Except I am sticking with the traditional black top of the UTE. But I am throwing in the OPPro Studio. I ordered the last week in May, but was arguing/urging them about trying to get the contour bowl instead of the mid bowl, so it probably didn't get started until after yours.
Hopefully, I will get it soon. Last I heard, the neck was bonded on August 30th. Expected shipping, two weeks. So, one more week to go.
Again, my order was for a black 12 fret, cutaway, slot head, contour (now mid bowl), texture top, guitar WITHOUT the snot blob, with the Studio (I like the tuner). It has been dubed the cootie since it is a cutaway UTE. Jeff, I don't mind if you adopt the nickname for yours as well, since they are so similar.

ttenn, I also ordered mine in May, expected within the next couple of weeks, although mine is an O not an A:
Custom Legend 12-string contour bowl cutaway, Koa top & TRC, rosewood fingerboard, carved walnut bridge, walnut headstock, ALL the abalone, & Studio preamp.
Last I heard, the bowl & neck are done, waiting on the top. I opted to wait extra time, as they're looking for the BEST piece of Koa they can find for me...
...and meanwhile, I've already decided that the next time I custom order it will be an Adamas slothead - just too good not to have one! |

Now that might be complete bullshit (Shut Up, Stephen) but it's what I remember. Some one out there owns both a Ute and 597 or has played both recently enough to be more acurate... Though this guitar sounds warmer than the Ute. |

It's got the same unidirectional top as the 47RI.
Driftwood,
If you are serious I can take a pic of the guitar next to the hot tub.
Thanks for all the compliments. I will do my best to get it in many OFC member hands over the coming year.
It would be a REALLY sweet production models, I must admit...
But then, it's also kinda fun having the only one... I know...I should be ashamed for having such thoughts. |

Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | I arrived back home after four days away. Before leaving, I broke the Gstring on the new Adamas. Just restrung it with Elixiir PhosBronz Meds. WOW. The overtones are just incredible on this guitar. I'm stoked that lot's of other folk will get a chance to play it this weekend at the Nor'Easter OFC Jam.
It's such a cool guitar. |

Your earlier comment about overtones on a baritone 12 scare me a bit. Have you seen this before or is it just an educated guess based on the tones/overtones produced by the Adamas 12s in general? |
