Location: Shotley Bridge, Northern England | ... like many newbies (I suspect) I have served my time here in the land of lurk. This time has been very productive: I am very grateful for the advice and information I have gathered during this time from many other board contributors. I've just pulled the trigger on a 1990 Collector's on eBay (I'm essentially an electric player who has come late to acoustics and needs a performing acoustic). As far as Ovations go I have an old 'Applesauce' (love that! ... and what a great budget guitar!) in great shape and a Korean 12 string (also a great player), and now I felt the time was right for a 'proper' USA made Ovation.
So chaps (and chapesses!), I suppose I'm hooked! |

The import guitars are decent with some being great but let us know how well you like the USA model! I think you'll find that there's a big difference in quality and sound....
.....soon you'll get G.A.S. and will need more and more and more and..... :D |

Location: Shotley Bridge, Northern England | Thanks for the comments. Jeff W; I suspect this is a trick question, but I'm afraid it's pronounced 'cappo'. (At least I'm not exploring types of strings or string tubes (whatever they are, hee hee). I would agree that I have a (relatively mild) case of the sickness, but the underlying GAS is well established I'm afraid, and I worry about the future... :) |

I've been very impressed with the 'togetherness' of the board postings, and the overall harmony (and humour (oh dear, another spelling atrocity I fear :) )) of members' contributions here. |

In the civilised world it's pronouned CAH-PO. At NAMM I hate having to force myself to say "G-Band KAY-PO" just for the benefit of you colonials. |

Welcome indeed, and glad to have someone else who can say Kappoh correctly! ;) Although my thinking is you did that just to [sp-chk]humor[/sp-chk] everyone...
Isn't it great that Llamas aren't native to the UK?!

I'll just continue my long-term campaign to reform and unify the use of the English language as I go... ;) Should be fun... |

| Relax JW, they don't speak anything remotely like English in that part of the world anyway. You've heard Sting/Knoplfler/Templeman.Did you understand any of them? |

Location: Shotley Bridge, Northern England | No, I'm not a fellrunner (yep, very strange: why do people DO that?), nor (perhaps sadly) a streetwalker (I think I know why they do that). Nope, I'm a Hillwalker (with a car (thanks Schroeder - although not a very good car ;) - don't think you have many hills in the Souf of England). I actually had a great day today up walking in the Scottish borders for the afternoon. Working on my intelligible English... next stop; assimilation! Ooops! I meant education! |

Pardon my ignorance (though I'm going to be ignorant whether you pardon it or not), but is that some sort of, well, let's just go right past my feeble guessing if we can - what exactly is a Fell Runner?
And, flat or not, I think I'll take one of those beers to hear this... |

Schroeder is right. Kent is not flat, it just hasn't got many hills. |

| Fells are mountains. Some people race up and down them. If running up a mountain (not on any existing tracks - you find your own way) seems stupid you have to see these guys running down a mountain to understand stupidity at it's very finest. And a race usually goes up and down at least 2 and often 4 or 5 mountains. The participants make triathletes look like couch potatoes and usually hav a body fat measurement in the minus scale.
They are working to isolate the gene so that the practise can be eradicated. |

And they call me ignr..igner..ig...stupid... |
