Location: Madison, Wisconsin | Not to fret, even if Dave's supplier of string tubes is out of business, I think I may have located a manufacturer that will make String Brushes for a nominal fee. I've shown him my design and he feels it shouldn't be a problem to make several different sizes for the different wound strings of a guitar. I'll keep you posted as the product develops. |

Someone...?
Then, can you tell me what a "String Brush" might do? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Do a search in the vault. Baasiclly they are thin poly tubes that you use as feeders for threading your strings through the bridge. You REMOVE them once the string has passed through the bridge. They keep the string from acting like a rasp and reaming out the bridge hole. No matter how careful you are, the action of pulling the string through the bridge clogs the string with fine microdust and it deadens the string. Using strng tubes both protects your bridge adn improves your sound. Unfortunately my materials supplier has gone out of business and I'm in the process of qualifying a new source. Look for an update soon. Dave |

Location: 6 String Ranch | The factory has been working on a grafite liner for the string holes which would make the need for string tubes a non-event. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Yeah, business it may be. BUT I'm gonna check my patent filing and see if graphite lined bridge holes might actually infringe on my IP. Dave |

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | I've been using flat wound strings lately. Since they're completely smooth, they fit through the bridge holes like butter. Although they don't sound as bright as round wound strings, I can sleep better at night knowing that my guitar strings are not filled with bridge wood micro dust, causing dead string sounds. |

Location: CT | String Tubes... What a boring name. No wonder you supplier went out of business. You'll never move them that way. Try this out:
"NEW! Super Deluxe Mega Extreme Space-age polymer bridge saver and micro-dust eliminator. You never even knew you needed it! Order now and get two for the price of one, and thats not all! Act fast and we'll include at no extra charge(just pay separate shipping) Super Deluxe Mega Extreme MINI Space-age polymer tuning post saver to keep the round-wounds from filing your precious gold plating. Keep it attached to the tuner, not sitting forlornly on your headstock, only to be carelessly wiped with a dry cloth creating annoying scratches. Call in the next 5 minutes, and...blah....blah..."
You get the picture. It's all about marketing. Don't worry, I'll e-mail address where you can send the royalty checks when these things start flying off the shelves. |
