Ahh... the power of the birthday.
The day is mine to move, mold or ignore as I desire. If I choose to watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy...in widescreen...with commentary by the director...so be it. My "guitar time" is never been limited but today I can be sure that I won't be intteruped, mid-song, with domestic issues such as the ratio between the stated capacity of the can and the amount of garbage in said can.
Will I abuse this time-sensitive position of power?? Of course not. There is a manly project involving door moulding, oak stain, and power tools to conquer. And when I'm reminded that today is "my" day and I need not worry myself with such minor concerns I can sloooowly wipe the sweat from my brow and say, "Yes...I know. . . But this is important!"
So my OFC brothers and sisters...Today I sit back, count my many blessings, think of times past and times to come, and sip from a goblet that is perpetually filled to the brim. There is extra to share and plenty to go around so if you need an reason to lift a mug, throttle the neck of a guitar, or count your own blessings...feel free to tap into my day. |
