All we ask, besides results :D , is to be kept advised.
As to the "sale/trade", we could use a section for commercial dealers...possibly in the "links" section.
Dealers that are active members in good standing should have access to our members, also a service to our members. A year ago, a player wanted a DiMeola AD-II, told by the factory that it would be tough to find one in a store and 5-7 months to make him one. So, I sold the used AD-II that I had. A dealer could have "old new stock" U681T. Keeps the commercial dealer from overloading the "for sale", yet provides a service to the members. Sure, let them link to their website. Want to charge a couple of pesos, fine. Restrict listing of price, fine.

Actually glad you brought it up, as I get to give my reasoning. I think the sell/trade is fine the way it is. As is stated, any member who happens to be a dealers is always welcome, always has been, but this is not an online "classifieds." there are plenty of sites for that. Listing a guitar or special or anything is fine, just don't want it abused.
As is now stated on the sell/trade page, it's like the bulletin board at your local music shop, or open-mic venue. You can put up an ad, mention a special, leave contact info, but you wouldn't staple your whole inventory all over the board, at least I wouldn't. That's all I'm asking.
As far as a links page... the links we have were earned. When I look at the stats, those sites are responsible for an enormous amount of traffic that is sent here, and I never even asked them to link here, they just did it. If I got into paid adverts, I have to deal with people I don't know, and that's not what this is about.
So basically nothing has changed. But as more and more people join, and more and more vendors are out there looking for customers, I just want to ensure we don't become just another classifieds site. I've seen it happen elsewhere, or at least it's been tried, it won't happen here.

Thanks again, Dave | |
