TONY.....didn't you say you had a couple extra lying around? Might be a good time to move one or two of them ;)

gulp

Especially with the damage to the binding near the neck...must have been inclusion of the strap (black suede).

Just for the record, have four 1687's and one 1681.

1681-7 (1990 w/OP-24), 1687-7 (1987 w/OP-24, rated 93), and maybe the 1687-7 (1979, 2-knobber, rated 93) or 1687-8 reissue (2-knobber)

Will definitely keep the 1687-7 rated 101 (2-knobber) and at least one of the 93 rated 2-knobbers. Maybe the 1681 now that Serge honored it by using on his current CD.

Told a long time ago that the textured top was the Adamas to get, have or had the CVT and SMT. Think highly of both the CVT and SMT but the 1681 or 1687 is just more of a good thing.

Heck, maybe I'll just keep all of them :p

By the way, notice a couple of bidders from Japan? Maybe "itemspider" is our fellow OFC'er?

Al, It's no where near a slothead but pretty high for one of those in the first few thousand made, particularly with the damage which appears to be significant, isn't it?

not sure if I would call the damage significant. but IMHO these guitars have no where to go but up. currently the japanese market for them has been soft but european market a tad stronger.

bottom line the are limited in number and many that have them are just not giving them up. I have owned many and wished I kept a few of the early ones. Just can't keep them all.
